Heat-Activated Hair Color
Pranava is releasing a line of products that make hair change its color like tree leaves in Autumn. However, the secret of the highly anticipated Vivids Mood Color isn’t photosynthesis. It’s temperature. “What makes it unique is that it’s the first-ever heat reactive color on the market,” Lissette Cruz, product development manager at Pravana told Allure. “Walking out into the sun, with the simple heat from the sun, makes the color shift. Any gust of wind can change it again and reverse right back to its original color.” Depending on what particular color is used, anything that makes the temperature drop or rise can turn yellow hair into green, pink hair into purple, platinum hair into blue and so on. “There’s no risk in using it. It does not damage your hair. You don’t have to pre-lighten your hair. You can put on various levels, but the brighter the hair, the lighter the color will look. It does lay on top of the hair. It’s temporary. You can change your color day in, and day out. It’s not dye.” Officially, Vivids Mood Color is coming out on the 1st of September, but barber student Jared Viliamu Pati got a chance to test it out sooner!

this is very interesting, but in normal day to day use at what point does the color change? it took a hair dryer to show the effect so clearly body heat by itself will not make the change happen. would you have to stick your head outside in the sun for awhile to get it to take? just doesn't seem very effective for much more than a show and tell.
Maybe body heat is too slow to demonstrate such a thing. Anyway, yeah, it looks too good. It's great if it works, though.
Load More Replies...I have looked into this EXTENSIVELY! As of right now, you must be a licensed cosmetologist to purchase this hair color AND it says it is only for a limited time! I am not happy about this!
You can easily buy the other Pravana colors on ebay. I'm sure this will end up there too.
Load More Replies...Why does the article author even mention the word "photosynthesis"? What possible link between plants and hair could there be in the author's mind?
He/she probably mean "photosensitive" but even that's wrong. The correct term would be something like "thermo-sensitive". But then we best not be a grammar Nazi right? Just let the idiocy continue.
