Architect Plans An Underwater Eco Village From 3D Printed Recycled Plastic

The Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut, we already know, has devised plans for an eco-village built on the ocean from recycled waste materials, printed in 3D. His plans have descended 1000m futuristic constructions under water, the city bears the name of Aequorea, a species of bioluminescent jellyfish. The concept highlights our current catastrophic environmental situation: an urgent need to clean up our oceans are emptied of their species, and decreasing natural resources.

Thus, the life would be possible through renewable energy sources: cultivated algae, plankton, molluscs, yards and gardens cultivated above water. Domes provide access to the underwater environment. The project seems crazy and almost too good to be true, but thanks to our new ways of thinking about ecology, recycling and renewing energy, we could create sustainable structures like these and think of new ways of living. Aequorea may be the way forward.
