What makes a person sexy? Looks, talent, the image one presents to the public, and how we accordingly perceive their personality all play into why we find ourselves attracted to certain celebrities and public figures.

Every year, People magazine attempts to put it all together when they name the “Sexiest Man Alive,” and this year, the magazine has decided that accomplished musician John Legend has the full package. He seemed a little bewildered by the announcement – we’re not sure if he would like to name this dubious honor alongside his ten Grammy awards and the numerous other entertainment accolades his compositions have earned him – but gratefully thanked the magazine. His wife, television host, and Twitter enthusiast Chrissy Teigen, appears to be having the most fun with the news. She particularly enjoyed trolling, teasing, and making fun of him for the title. And isn’t that what makes up the foundation of all the best celebrity relationships?

“All downhill from here,” Chrissy replied when her husband thanked People for the title in a tweet. She then interviewed her and John’s 1-year-old and 3-year-old children, who, predictably, did not care in the slightest about their dad’s sexiness being recognized by America’s largest celebrity news outlet. Despite promising to make fun of John when he came home, she couldn’t hide her excitement over the opportunities for Twitter comedy that the award has opened up for her. Her bio now proudly states that she is sleeping with the Sexiest Man Alive, and a mundane moment like her husband making lunch for her has become “the sexiest man alive just made me a ham sandwich.”

Teigen’s also not concerned about critics of the title. While the announcement of Sexiest Man Alive has comment sections questioning People’s methodology every year, because the magazine inevitably can’t please everybody when discussing such a subjective topic as sex appeal, she can only laugh at the controversy.

The pair has been together for a long time and their relationship is stronger than ever. Teigen and Legend met in 2006 while the music video for ‘Stereo’ was being produced. The couple dated for four years before Legend proposed to Teigen in December 2011. After nearly two years of being engaged, the couple got married in September 2013. Their daughter, Luna, was born in 2016, while their son, Miles, came into this world in 2018.
