Am I the only one giggling at the thought of a 90-year old Irish woman calling her cat a c***?

Scottish here, just about every 2nd sentence in Scotland includes the word c**t lol! Don't get me wrong there are some people who do find it offensive but not many really lol! It's not just said as a swear word/offensive word here, it has several uses eg. "I'm cunted" = I'm knackered, "See you, ya c**t" = offensive or said jokingly, "I'll boot your c**t in" = I'll kick you in the vagina! Totally versatile, and also used with a f**k in there somewhere too! We Scots definitely do a lot of swearing actually when you think about it, maybe certain areas are worse than others, not sure on that really though!

Having lived in London now for 42yrs the word c**t is socially acceptable now but it's how you use the word and the manner of which it is spoken that causes offence.....

I think it does. I'm English and I don't have any friends that would use that word. Only foul mouthed dregs would use it in my opinion.

Oh yes it does! Like the others say, it's the most offensive swear word in the UK. Maybe you should have have "I don't think it has the same stigma..." instead of making out that you know it's true.

There`s no such thing as bad language, its just language. The C word can be descriptive, hilarious, passionate or ironic. Whether you`re offended by its use, or not... that`s entirely your own prejudice. And class has nothing to do with it, some of the most erudite & eloquent of people include it in their vocabularies.

afraid your neighbor is on her own on this one, - I'm Irish, living in Dublin and I don't know anyone that is okay with the casual use of that word - F-bombs for days but c*** gets winces whenever anyone says it.

I'm, c-word is the worst swear word here in Australia. Use of it is only by very very low class or rough people. Not sure which English speaking countries you are referring too.
