Children Draw Their Own Doll; The Cryoow! Doll

Cryoow! dolls are dolls we create according to drawings sent to us by artists –big or small. Our goal is to bring the drawings to life; something you can play with, hug and love. A doll that you designed yourself, hence the name Cryoow! = CRreate YOur OWn!

I'm upvoting this because I like concepts and realisations like these. But the lower you go through the article, you notice some dolls have been deliberatedly modified to look more deformed than the real picture. Some kids would be a little disappointed, at least on first sight. So be careful. Anyway, it's good overall.

Thank you for your feedback! Yes, you are right in some way the Cryoow! dolls can look creepier or maybe more “weird” than the original drawings. I think it is also because a drawing can have many thousands of small differentiations in color intensity and you can see the strokes of the pencil too. We do have to reduce these many colors to the 144 colors we have fabrics available. The forms of the dolls we never change. But it is clear that the 3 dimensional doll form on a photo looks different from that of the 2 dimensional drawing. It is our intention to reproduce the drawings as precise as possible and we do our best to preserve the character of each drawing. The average time to produce a Cryoow! doll is 2 days but can also be 5 days if the drawing is full of details. In general we are proud about the uniqueness of the Cryoow! dolls and I personally think that a Barbie doll -for example- is much more creepy than any of our dolls. What do you think?

First of all, I really appreciate your work and your answer. What I was talking about, however, are shapes rather than colour. I do understand that you can't reproduce a doll to look EXACTLY like a drawing, but Tom's face, for example, is more accurate and rounder in the picture, which would be not that much of a problem to create an almost perfect circle, right? ^_- Also, some dolls have bigger or more displaced eyes. I mean, it looks cute indeed and I am happy too to immagine the smiles on those kids' faces when they got their dolls, but things like those I mentioned could have been avoided. I guess. Anyway, keep up the good work. And to answer your question, Barbie isn't creepy to me, but she certainly isn't as warm as the dolls you create. ^_^

Why do so many of these look creepy? None of the drawing look really creepy, but the dolls do because they have been modified in small ways from the drawings as Daria B mentioned. This is a bit disappointing. Just look at the "Mom in yellow flower dress". Loving mom or blood-thirsty zombie, with those big blood-red eyes and mouth?
