As the owner behind Bodega Cats of New York, I’m excited to give you an inside look at our new passion project – a Bodega Cats Tarot Deck featuring the iconic cats of NYC bodegas!
Like our other bodega cat prints, the deck spotlights New York’s legendary street cats. But this time, they’re starring as the main characters of their own tarot world. Our talented artist imagined each cat within scenic card illustrations that playfully tie to the traditional tarot meanings.
It’s been rewarding as a business owner to see our love of cats, mysticism, and New York City blended into an imaginative product. As longtime tarot fans, creating a deck with a bodega cat twist has been a fun new endeavor.
The full 22 card deck is still in development, but we just released the first 7 cards in our Etsy shop. This limited preview edition is printed in a high quality that shows off the crisp, vivid colors of the original artwork.
As cat lovers ourselves, we know how important it is for cat products to have creativity and modern style. Our artist drew upon years of experience to design something truly unique. The beans, Takis, lotto tickets, and “bodega cat” armband are some of the special touches.
Our hope is that this deck resonates with fellow artistic cat fans, tarot aficionados, and anyone who knows the magic of an NYC bodega. Beyond just beautiful illustrations, we want this to capture the spirit of the cats and the city.
