Chapter 2

The Ocean

I woke up early the next morning ready to go on our adventure. We met at the river point with our kayaks, and morning dew trickled down our thin boats. We unhooked the kayaks from the dock and grabbed our oars. In 20 minutes we were already saying our goodbyes, but we had to start rowing to the islands of Tortula.

As we continued rowing the waves got bigger and increasingly difficult to navigate through, and my map was ripping, we lost our compass, and we were more soaked than fish in water, after some time passed though the waves mellowed out and the sea was much easier to navigate.

We figured out that in about 1 hour we should reach the islands of Tortula. It was getting dark and we needed to eat as we couldn’t eat lunch. Once we reached the islands of Tortula we had to drag our kayaks off the beach so that if the tide went in, the boats wouldn’t float away( or us).

Lucky for us Pedro brought some extra cloth inside his kayak in a waterproof container, even though we said it was a bad idea. So we set up our makeshift tent. We had to find some food though, we chose roles and I had to go scavenging in the forest. Meanwhile, the others made a fire and went fishing. in the forest, there were animals and food, so I ran back to get my bow and arrow. Once I got the weapons, the only other time I returned was with ten mushrooms and one goat. Bart caught no fish but I luckily got enough food as it was.

We ate heartily that day and went to sleep. Knowing we needed to regulate our energy tomorrow.
