We’ve all heard the age-old question: are humans inherently good or bad? That debate may never be settled, but there’s no denying the incredible acts of kindness happening all around us.
And some take it to a whole new level! Over on the subreddit r/chaoticgood, as the name suggests, users share good deeds done in playful, often unexpected ways. Think funny notes left in library books or flowers planted secretly in neglected park corners.
Below, you’ll find more of these wholesome moments and a chat with Brooke Tansley, author of Small Good Things.

Even though the term ‘chaotic good’ implies not sticking to societal norms, the subreddit emphasizes that there are boundaries which need to be respected.
The mods, who oversee a community of 331K members, say that rule breaking should be achieved without cruelty or intimidation. By their definition, embracing chaotic good means valuing not just your own freedom and welfare, but everyone else’s.
A Very Effective Method Indeed
Goodness can be a transformative experience. Brooke Tansley, known for her roles as a TV & film producer, actress, and entrepreneur, told Bored Panda that kindness turned her life around.
“I was feeling like I was in a sad funk and I didn’t really know how to snap out of it. I woke up in the middle of the night remembering that it feels good to do good things for other people,” she shared. So, she thought about her next move.
At first, Brooke considered diving into a volunteering project, but with work and two little kids, she knew it’d be tough to maintain. Instead, she went for a more manageable approach: practicing small acts of kindness.
Desantis Gets A Taste Of His Own Medicine
This happened in Utah. A right-wing school board in northern Utah started banning books, and a guy submitted the Bible based on the adultery, violence, sex, and death.
Also incest, Lot and his daughters spring to mind, talk about your perverted fantasy...and he was the righteous one, first he tries to give his daughters to the towns sinners, then he gets drunk and has sex with them himself, hot on the heals of watching his wife turn into a pil,ar of salt for looking back on the town full of sinners being destroyed....
Load More Replies...This also happened in Utah, when a school district started banning books, a guy submitted the Bible to be banned. LOL.
Yes, infanticide is not only mentioned in the Bible (Exodus and the Gospels) but that "song" that Boney M sang, "Rivers of Babylon"? The lyrics are from Psalm 137, which ends: "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." Yeah, they left that part out of the hit song.
could we stop with the censorship? Infanticide is In what word is infanticide any better than the other ones? You censor b********y, but killing children is less traumatising? Just grow up please...
I wholeheartedly agree. I find it ironic that BoredPanda continues with their idiotic censorship crusade in a post about fighting back against censorship and book banning. This site has some of the worst censorship I’ve ever seen. It’s truly disturbing 😳

As a Christian, I don't know why any religious books are in the public school system. In my state, (Not sure if this applies to all 50 states) public schools are not allowed to teach religion. You will never find a religious symbol, posters, or anything hung up. We don't have any religious books either, I think this is something all schools should adopt.
Do schools use the Bible? I graduated in the 70s, and nobody used the Bible.
We studied the Bible in school and were all given one to keep.
Load More Replies...This was hilarious, but, as a Christian teen, I do disagree with this, mainly as a violation of the rights of the First Amendment.
He forgot the constant murder, pornographic poetry, incest, and many other things associated with both horror and war. As well as it has been the inspiration for uncountable evil behaviors from its followers currently. Like, after being raised on the Bible I could not figure out why Julie of the Wolves was a banned book... it had nothing even close to the Bible stuff.
His excuse for banning the Bible is ludicrous. People against the Bible have not read the Bible. Every book in the Old Testament prophecies about the coming of Jesus Christ. The New Testament is the story of Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of the world. He died for people who hate him. Jesus' story is a story of love and forgiveness. Everyone who calls on his name shall be saved. Jesus tells us to love others as we love ourselves. THAT is a message of Love.
Finally a "Florida Man" story that isn't about someone doing something weird, dangerous, or just plain stupid.
And starting to kill your son because you heard a voice telling you to do it. (Abraham and Isaac). And handing over your maidservant to be gang raped and killed in order to protect two strangers.
Blah blah blah … Bronze Age goat herders version

Yes!! The bible should not be given to any child under the age of 15. Nor should any "teachings" be from it either.
Yeah, but that's not how hypocrisy works. Florida state and religious groups will educate you, though.
War crimes, etc. People being tortured and nailed to crosses. Burning in furnaces. Doesn’t sound wholesome to me…
Finally a “Florida Man” headline that doesn’t end in something weird and/or twisted and/or ridiculous.
I think it's very important to mention that the story of Lot and his daughters is so much more than just incest. It is the Bible's first story of female-on-male rape. The two daughters get their dad so drunk he can not possibly consent, then they have sex with him with the express purpose of getting pregnant. Everyone talks about the incest, but very few people talk about how this man was raped by not one, but both of his daughters.
By that logic, shouldn’t all faith-based texts be banned? He has a point about what the Scriptures contain, but he either does not understand or care about the contexts in which those elements exist. All three of these things were considered as warranting capital punishment by stoning in Scripture.
I automatically read that as "bureaucracy". No idea what it's meant to be 😃
There are countless reasons, but this isn't one of them.

Most books don’t include bestality, rape, incest, graphic depictions of sacrifice, the rapture. This is coming from someone who read the Bible when they were seven.

To spread positivity, Brooke Tansley does several things. “I made a New Year’s resolution to always tell someone when I think a nice thought about them,” she recounted.
As a former Broadway star, she takes advantage of her talent: “Sometimes I’ll record myself singing a song with the voice memo app in my phone and send it to someone if I think it would speak to them.”

Brilliant move. But as a boomer who loathes that sort of assholery from anyone regardless of age, I chafe at your ascribing it to us. We are not a monolith. Many of us are still the liberals we were in the '60s and '70s. Don't overlook allies by assuming our thinning gray hair and crackling joints puts us on opposite sides of thedecency and courtesy spectrum. Keep up the good work.
“I like to offer to help people with tasks that are either boring, difficult, or gross because it can feel like a special expression of love for someone when you volunteer to do something with them that isn’t fun. You can make it fun just by being there and helping,” Brooke added.

Occasionally, Brooke gets creative and channels chaotic good, just like the users of the subreddit. She once made business cards with a drawing of a snail that said, “This is the Happiness Snail just wishing you happiness!” Another time, she printed a set of cards with the message “I hope you eat something yummy today!”

Brooke believes that kindness can greatly improve mental health, and science supports this. In one study, participants who performed multiple good deeds for seven consecutive days reported increased happiness. Another study found that people who regularly helped others felt more confident, capable, and fulfilled.

The warm feeling that appears when you do something nice for someone is often called the ‘helper’s high’, a concept coined by Allan Luks in the '80s. It suggests that being generous and selfless not only feels rewarding but also promotes longevity and resilience.

Caring about others influences physical well-being, too. Research shows compassion lowers blood pressure and reduces the risk of hypertension. Moreover, kind actions release endorphins and oxytocin, and create new neural connections in the brain.

Kennedy is such a joke. He tries to act like Foghorn Leghorn, but he was educated at Vanderbilt and Oxford, yes, the one in England. And he was one of the GOP senators who flew to Moscow and groveled in front of Putin on July 4, 2018.

Scalping products has been out of hand for a long time! I remember when the movie Frozen came out, It was the first movie my 4 year old daughter saw in a theater. She really wanted and Elsa doll. They were $6.50 at walmart and target but people would show up and buy them out whenever they were stocked. They were as high as $50 on ebay. Insanity.
