Most countries with reported outbreaks of the coronavirus are recommending that people self-isolate. That means staying at home and not leaving unless it’s absolutely necessary. Like, if you run out of food or need to go for a quick stroll in the park for some exercise to calm down.

With more and more celebrities self-isolating, pictures of them during quarantine are circulating all over the internet. BuzzFeed created a list of photos showing celebs enjoying themselves at home during the coronavirus outbreak and some other media sites have done the same, and it’s created a heated discussion online.

Some people are angry at these celebs for flaunting their wealth on social media. While others believe that there’s nothing to get mad about: these celebrities earned everything they have by working hard and pursuing their dreams. But what do you think, dear Pandas? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

Some news outlets started shaming celebrities for posting pictures and videos of themselves self-isolating:

Different people having different incomes and living conditions is nothing new. It’s a fact of life. Even though we’re all equal, we make our own decisions and have access to different opportunities. That means that some of us have more freedom when it comes to self-isolating than others. It is what it is.

Whether you judge Arnold Schwarzenneger and Jimmy Fallon for being rich while most of us are stuck in cramped apartments is completely up to you. Meanwhile, the media is split down the middle as well, with some news sites shaming celebs and others focusing on the common factor: that we’re all in this together and that some celebrities are encouraging us and giving us hope.

There’s no denying that self-isolation is hard. Least of all because when we’re told to stay inside, suddenly, a small voice inside of us tells us that we should explore the great outdoors. Even though some of us would normally spend most of our time at home anyway.

Naturally, many people weren’t relating to the struggles of these celebs and responded with snappy remarks:

Some even created memes angered by the situation:

Luckily, former astronaut Chris Hadfield has some handy tips for us. He spent some time self-isolating before flying out to space to make sure he felt alright being alone during his real space missions. So it’s safe to say that he’s an expert on loneliness and boredom.

“Take care of yourself, take care of your family and friends, take care of your spaceship,” Hadfield joked.

Astronaut Hadfield told the BBC that it’s important to stay up-to-date with current news. Of course, he suggests reading and watching reliable sources of information. This way, you’ll be able to know how global and local events can affect you and your loved ones.

He also explains that it’s vital that you set yourself goals: from simple daily tasks to long-term goals. When self-isolating, you should have a list of things to do so that you stay busy and have something to look forward to. If you don’t, that’s when anxiety starts to set in.

What’s more, Hadfield heartily encourages people to learn new skills with all the extra time that’s available to you. Ever wanted to learn to play the guitar? Well, now’s your chance. Have you been thinking of writing that Next Great American Novel but were always too busy to set pen to paper? Finally, the perfect opportunity to show the world your skills!

But others started jumping in to defend these celebs, saying there’s nothing wrong by living big as long as they are safely staying at home:

The struggles of people who do not need to be concerned about their financial status is NEVER the same as those of us who do. Regardless of the circumstances the interests of the wealthy never mirror the interests of those who struggle financially.

But compared to us most people in the world struggle much harder financially. Do you feel guilty because you're not homeless? Are you currently doing anything for the homeless?

Doctors who spend years at university and who are often up to their eyeballs in debt and retail workers who can themselves barely afford to live (and countless others) - those people are are out there risking their safety for all of us. Without them our society would literally fall to pieces. Without the celebrities we might have a song or a movie less.

I feel like most people- even without this going on- have some sort of feeling about celebrities and their giant houses. In normal circumstances most people look, go holy c**p my house could fit in their living room, and move on. Right now though, listening to people in their big af mansions talking about how we're all in this together, as I sit in my 500 square foot house with my husband- we're just not in the same situation. We're both stuck home, yes. But that looks VERY different for us. That and honestly even we're doing pretty well, we have a house, we like each other, we don't have kids, etc. No hate on having kids- but thus is definitely rougher for you guys who have them. My beagle isn't asking questions. I am hoping this changes the value we place on people though- celebrities aren't the ones holding us together. Doctors, nurses, teachers, retail and food service workers, factory workers, journalists (national and local)- where are their giant friggin houses?

Such a perfect insensivity demonstration... I really hope this pandemic may reawaken consciences so we all can finallly understand what's really important for our daily life. Good healtcare system, good teachers, also firemen, policemen, decent wages, healthy environment, healthy food, safe and good work conditions, decent houses... we need this to build a true society/community When your house is burning you need a fireman, not an showman; if your'e sick you need a doctor, not an influencer Our purpose in life should not make money at any cost, but improve ourselves to improve the society. I really hope to ear people yelling to their politicians that the economy must adapt to the needs of the population. Currently we are going the opposite way. My humble opinion of course

This is all true. I also hope that, from this unfortunate situation, something good comes up. This is a chance to reflect and make plans to make changes. I hope we, as a society, learn a few good things from all this.

In the case of the "breakdown" thing from Sam Smith, that kind of thing seems fair. No matter how comfortable your home is or how well stocked your fridge is, if you can't see your loved ones you're gonna feel like s**t.

That's a good point. At first I scoffed at it too but you're right. We should have more empathy for one another. Also, I mean ridiculing someone who might be having a mental health breakdown isn't helpful nor kind.

I don't begrudge anyone who has amassed a large fortune from spending their money how they want, because they've obviously used their talents, skills, and knowledge to help or entertain the rest of us, and we've given them the means to profit from whatever it is they do. Having said that, flaunting your wealth on social media while joking about how your life "sucks" while you have to remove yourself from the outside world makes you an a*****e. And crying seems to be Sam Smith's default setting. I've never known anyone who cries as much as they do. No offence, but every news story about them probably contains some mention of crying. Accidentally referred to as a "he"? Cries. Can't go outside due to a viral pandemic? Cries. Misspells a word in a song they're writing? Cries. And all of it can be found on their Instagram, because f**k privacy, there's attention out there. Call me heartless, but Chris Crocker's breakdown was more believable than whatever Sam Smith's waterworks are about.

I lived in a bigger house than the one I am in now.. I have always preferred big houses.. you can be just as lonely, sad and stir crazy in a big house, just like a small one.. sometimes that extra space.. can make it even lonelier.. if that makes any sense? its best to have people there to enjoy it with you.. which cant happen right now..

Celebrities are people, too. Being stuck at home isn't fun for anybody when it's a "have to" situation. My husband & I were discussing it and here's the way I sum it up: Even if I didn't want to go anywhere, because my husband has our only car, I would be antsy just knowing I COULDN'T.

I don't begrudge these folks for the money they make. I just can't stomach that some, who have done absolutely nothing for anyone but themselves, like the Beloved Kardashian Kash Kows, I just can't give a damn about. May they ride off of the flowers field into oblivion and may your hard earned money go to something a little more important than adding to their empire. Take the money and just please, fade away.

I've understood why people get so offended and jealous about famous people - they are human beings just like us and they work hard just like us. No it isn't fair that all of them get paid more than teachers, NHS workers and customer service people but they still work hard. Most them also employ hundreds if not thousands of people and run their own businesses. They can get ill and die just like us from this coronavirus, how about having some empathy for them as well?

Whoa. This topic is pushing buttons everywhere. Yes. We made these people wealthy. But baseball and football games, which athletes in college who later become big buck attractions, don't get compensated with big bucks in school. And they pull in some hefty cash for their schools while attending. But when did events become so cost prohibitive for the average schmuck. And I'm sorry, but for the life of me I cannot come up with a single thing I ever paid for or watched other than a commercial promoting them, that the Kardashian women ever did. And Pops looked like the cat that swallowed the canary when the OJ verdict was announced. And at least Bruce moved out although he joined their team. People with money should in no way be made to feel bad about it. But when the amassing the almighty dollar at the cost of a nation, as our fearless leader is doing, I take great offense. Making money is what the American Dream promises. Stealing money as our elected morons have is c**p.

I would like to see a list of celebs that have donated money to all the doctors and nurses currently working in NYC- without proper PPE. God help us all if nurses and doctors can't work. Doctors are already dying. These poor celebs can't buy a ventilator, or a ICU bed, God forbid they need it. Right now, there's no privilege to being a celeb. You're not that special. The doctors, nurses, truck drivers, supermarket workers, and many others are the true heroes keeping everyone else alive. I don't believe Panda should've even shown this piece. It's pretty depressing. We don't need to be looking at privileged lives handling the lockdowns.

Some of them are truly offensive, while others are just snapshots of life. The dork who was crying, Sam Whoever, he’s the worst offender. Some of the ones showing off like the dancers, the horseback rider Kardashian, the Beebs and Baldwin, are just the type of content they’d post on any other day. It’s the ones whining and also the ones showing off how “easy” quarantine is who need to pipe down.

Some of these are really reaching. "Man owns fridge." "Cooking show host has large pan collection." "Professional athletes and celebrities have home workout rooms instead of going to the gym with everyone else." And le gasp, Arnold Schwarzenegger has a hot tub? Only 7 million other Americans can afford such luxury! Don't get me wrong, some of these are disgustingly excessive, but don't rag on Cardi B for having a tabletop game they sell at WalMart. Rag on her for running headfirst into it like an idiot.

Celebrities are people (mostly). They weren't all born rich. Many of them are generous people. Yes, I'd love to be rich, but just being jealous of those who are hurts me, not them. And note that in the US most of us live in accommodations that would seem like complete luxury to the poorest people in the world. Should we feel guilty about that?

No we shouldn't feel guilty for having a place nicer than someone poorer. But many of us work incredibly hard for what we have. We earn it. What a concept. But rich or poor, i treat them the same. None of us are so different when we're little kids and just being nobody

I would not have the disdain for them that I do if, instead of complaining about isolation (because their narcissistic egos aren't being stroked) or flaunting their wealth, they were actually doing something. For instance, Jon Bon Jovi and his Community Restaurant in New Jersey still serving food for those in need, or Brad Paisley and his wife with their free grocery store in Nashville. Those people are making a difference. Those whiny-butts in their mansions can rot in them.

I will probably get downvoted and that is fine, but what I am getting is an extreme form of jealousy. Most of these people worked hard to get where they are and should be able to enjoy their success. Even people who live in a 12 million dollar home get tired of having to be confined to it 24/7. All the money in the world can't stop the walls from closing in on you. Instead of remarking on the size of their homes or the stuff like that how about not being a follower of theirs on social media. He says that the celebrities are being insensitive, but he is by forgetting that like the rest of us, they are human.

I don't know. Do we really need their services? We enjoy the work they produce but does the money they make really reflect the work they do? The people who are working hard are propping up humanity right now, and they are working hard-- much harder than many celebrities and CEOs do. I did retail and I can guarantee I worked harder than Kim Kardashian did her entire life. A lot of celebrity success is luck. There are thousands of unrecognized talents who are good at singing, acting etc, who don't make it. Even some that 'make it' later lose it all. It's not jealousy, it's that these posts prove celebs are totally out of touch and the reality of COVID-19 isolation is NOT what these celebrities are showing. You cant preach to me about being happy to be isolated when you have a 100 acre farm. C'mon.

It is their money, and they can spend it any way they choose. But I see their "sharing" as a huge EAT S**T to the rest of the public. Do they have to fight for basic needs, like toilet paper, bread, milk, eggs, pasta, canned goods?. Doubtful. Spare me your tears. Perrier on a tray - gimme a break. Our neighborhood is sharing what we have, and helping each other through this c**p. And not posting all about it.

Everybody needs to chill out. Stop slating people who's lives you follow religiously when they virtually allow you access to their homes and lives. That said, complaining about being out of work and pocket is understandable, but not because you're cooped up indoors. I was grounded for 4 weeks when I was 16, big deal! I've been self isolating for 14 months now with anxiety and depression, so listening to people whine about their lives being interrupted for 14 days makes me laugh a little. Ultimately, unless you have to work on the frontline of this pandemic or in other essential jobs, your job is to stay at home. Even in a world full of refuge camps, prisons, homelessness and war, some of us are a little precious about having to stay in our homes it seems. Just chill out, unwind and enjoy who's ever company you're sharing, even if it's just your own :)

Normally I don't give a damn that celebrities have all that stuff. As long as I can live my life, go to the gym or cinema, shop if I want to, go to the park or the beach, I'm perfectly fine! But pretending they are "just the same as us", while owning mansions with gyms, swimming pools, huge gardens and everything you could imagine... Not cool. For them quarantine is just a holiday. They get tested whenever they want to, have their food delivered/made for them, can spend whole days enjoying the sun in a garden, exercising in a gym or just sleeping all day. They have no problem paying their bills, actually they still earn money off their films/songs/whatever else they do. So yes, while I'm sitting here in my 2bed flat, no work (hospitality sector), I really do not want to see them "solidarizing" with me, singing me songs while flaunting their luxurious houses. Poor you my a**. At the same time I can appreciate the ones who just twit simple messages or donate quietly.

Lost their job? Nope. Living on their savings? Yup. The rest of the world has now no job, no real savings, rent to pay, and a tiny living arrangement ON THEIR OWN! (and often with little kids, or disabilities or insert what you can think of Panads!) SO yeah, good one guys. I thank goodness the actors and musicians I really like are not doing this, "Oh, it's soooooo hard...." As my Dad used to say, "More dollars than sense."

Why are you guys all so offended. Yes, they are better off. Yes, they have nice big houses and their situation isn't the same as others. But many of them worked hard to earn those money. I agree that their career field has allowed them to earn a lot more than many other people who work just as hard if not harder, and that's not really fair. But so many people in the entertainment field don't succeed and they persevered enough too. For example, most actors and actresses go to countless auditions before scoring a role, and that role usually isn't in some big movie where they instantly become famous. Most of them worked really hard, so don't hate on them because they have more. Guess what, this is tough time for everyone, though yes definitely a lot harder for others. But how are they "flaunting their wealth" by posting their house. So what if it's bigger? Do you guys want them to specifically make sure to only show a corner, with no furniture, decorations, etc.?

I bet most of them didn't choose to film in a specific spot in their house to show off how rich they are. They might just be filming in a spot that's convenient for them or to show what they're doing. Like Mariah Carey and Ellen, they have their own private gym. Guess what? They worked for that money and yes, they could donate the money spent on buying gym equipment, but they deserve to treat themselves too. I bet people in lower economic class don't put ALL of their extra money into savings or donations, they probably treat themselves too, even if it's on a lower scale. And showing their gym isn't "flaunting their wealth". What, do you want them to move that specific equipment into an isolated corner, and film their video there so you don't see their gym? Furthermore, with so many people stuck at home, they need something to do. And I bet many of them scroll through their phones or watch YouTube when they're not working. So guess what, these celebrities are providing entertainment.

Its all fun an games until the farmers stop producing food and medical centers run out of treatment options. Celebrities are exceptionally dependent on critical infrastructure due to their immense distance from it. They are essentially likened to babies that need constant nourishment due their inability to contribute anything meaningful or real to the world. If this viral outbreak continues unabated, people will be joining forces with doctors and primary producers - NOT utterly useless celebrities.

I understand their initial idea was to inspire us to quarantine and give us a smile. Though for many it didn't read that way. I found it interesting. I'm dirt poor with a small place with my family but it's not so bad as long as you can find a hobby or something to be occupied with. It would however be wonderful if the celebs would donate funds and help with getting medical supplies for our doctors who are pushing themselves well beyond human capacity. Even some pillows would be great! Those doctors need time to get a few hours sleep in between this horror.

I love Kourtney's photos! It is gorgeous and I would love to be in lock down there. And the video JLo posted is super cute! Glad that kiddo has the space to have fun and let that energy out! These people worked their asses off to get where they are. I think it is complete ignorance and jealousy of the people who bash them for "being comfortable" or "flaunting their wealth". If you don't like it, don't look at it. You don't know what they do in their personal lives, you just see a post or photo and judge based on that. Which shows how shallow people can be. Getting upset over what? What you perceive to be 100% the full extent of someones life? UGH!! I didn't mean to rant. Truly. It is just so irritating. Lol On another note, I really love to see the neat things other people have and get to do w/in their homes or on their property. Especially the photo of Kourtney riding her horse!! I wish I had land like that for riding, during a lock down or not!! It is beautiful where she is!!

It is a celebrity driven culture which hopefully will change after this virus subsides. These people are not going to turn down the vast sums of money they are paid. However lots of money does not always bring sense or class. But they are still people and I am sure some of them might be quite nice and will possibly be a bit more thoughtful in the future.

It is sad that people are so angry. These celebrities have (mostly) earned the paycheck that got them their mansions and such. And we paid for them. But you know what else we paid for? We paid for that customer service rep's new car. We paid for that Buger King employee's gold chains, watch, shoes, etc. We paid for everything that everyone has because we were a patron of the service(s) they provide. So who the hell cares if someone has a pillow fort that is bigger than one's apartment. They earned that. If you don't think so, maybe you should try to do it yourself if it matters that much to you. We are ALL in this together. A cure for the virus is just as important to a celebrity as it is to anyone else. They are welcoming you into their home with their videos and pictures like ordinary people do. Spite and bile will not help anyone fight the virus. Compassion, kindness, and love will.

Let's start a crowfounding.. " they collected in 4 days 3,8 millions euro.. and in 2 weeks a new intensive care unit for covid has been opened, with 14 beds, and one is being prepared. I appreciate they worked their asses off..and I appreciate that they are staying in instead of spreading the virus. But some of us are having a hard enough time being stuck in a 950 sq ft apartment for the next 2-4 weeks..not being able to leave and going stir crazy because of lack of personal time and space. We don't need celebs boo-hooing that they have it hard staying at home in their 4500-18000 sq foot mansions. It's the same as standing in front of a poor person who's choking down bread and water while you complain about how your filet mignon is medium well instead of medium rare like you wanted it. This article is so toxic! Why are people so envious of other people's happiness and well being? Just because you don't have a luxurious house and you can't afford what they can, it doesn't mean that you have to get all salty about it. It doesn't mean that NONE deserves to live in luxury just because you can't afford it. Most of those people faced a lot of ups and down in their careers, worked day and night to get where they are now, sacrificed a lot and compromised a lot but sure, get offended because they are well paid for their work and cause they don't live in s****y homes but when you enjoy their movies and their songs, it doesn't matter anymore, does it? Or maybe you expect actors and musicians to work for free, for your entertainment.

I think this "isolation" (which is not really isolation, people still go shopping and stay in contact via phone and internet) is really problematic mainly for: 1) extroverts, 2) people who rely on their wealth and position, very artificial and very transitory, 3) people who believed nothing bad can happen to them because the world is safe and our future is bright. People were just not prepared, rich or poor. I'm an introvert mentally prepared for bad things to happen, content with what I have and having a feeling of purpose in life. I have zero problems with this so called isolation. There's so much everyone can do, especially celebrities with their money, time and connections... Like really being in this together by helping others.

People need to stop complaining because WE made them rich. It's not their fault we consume their media and make them millions. What pisses me off is the fact they think they're having a hard time.

I can forgive or appreciate just about all of these, except a Kardashian and Biebers. Celebrities who are alone in their house, that's hard no matter how big your house. If you have family to spend time with, that brings its own joys and struggles, but at least you aren't alone.

(and often with little kids, or disabilities or insert what you can think of Panads!) SO yeah, good one guys. Do you guys want them to specifically make sure to only show a corner, with no furniture, decorations, etc.?

    me

4 years ago DotsCreated by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

They only have their image to work with..and they tried to do their best .. I don't like their work, nor their lifestyle but i'm re-evaluating the true whort of many people in this situation..

As a lover of movies and a liker of actors, I think Imma look at a lot of these people a little different from now.

Most of the coronavirus victims look healthier than Justin Bieber in his huge living room ... Just saying

Well, don't know about Bieber himself, but it's no secret that celebrities do substance abuse. It starts as either recreational or as a "medicine" to help them push through busy and stressful schedules, then it becomes an addiction and a struggle.

I have no sympathy for any of them. It's egotistical for them to think we want to see them. It's only been a week!!

I dont think we should judge just because its not our situation. They worked hard for what they have and so in desperate times they are more comfortable and we shouldnt be jealous because we should have worked harder.

It's called being rude.

I'm ignoring everything and bike riding everyday outside anyways. My husband still has to work so doesn't matter. He's already been sick twice the last 6 weeks.

I hope they all had to endure a "casting call" on Harvey Weinstein's couch

Speaking as a homeless College student stuck living in my car during all this s**t, those celebrities can go f**k themselves.

Appropriate levels of taxation would pretty much solve these problems
