This Adorable Cat Looks Exactly Like Shrek’s Puss In Boots, And The Internet Went Nuts For It

It’s awesome when movies mimic real life. But rarely does it ever go the other way around: in fact, it’s so rare that if something looks like anything from a movie, usually the news spreads like wildfire, and today’s case is no exception. Recently, Pisco the cat broke the internet with a photo that looks exactly like Puss in Boots in that memorable scene from Shrek 2, where Puss in Boots used his secret weapon: the cat eyes. Luckily for Pisco, this isn’t just a lucky coincidence, and he rocks his cat eyes 24/7. He’s a little bit chonky, but that just comes as a side effect of having such irresistible eyes (and fur, of course).

Does Pisco have low vision? I've never seen a fully-sighted cat with permanently expanded pupils. Not that it isn't cute, because he's as cute as a button.

It's possible to force pupils to dilate with atropine eye drops. Of course there's no way to tell what's going on with this cat, but always dilated like this is not normal.

Pisco is so flocking adorable 😍 But no mention if he's been to the Veterinarian about it. They may not know that this is a symptom of possible: "pain, overstimulation & age-related atrophy"(looks young but not stated), "Cat's eyes should dilate periodically, so it's a real concern if the pupils never contract." And "Various health concerns are connected to dilated pupils, including feline leukemia, toxicity, dysautonomia and tumors". Anytime something is "unique or unusual" with an animal, especially when it has sudden onset... please take them to the Vet (if you can) or at least research it, for pet's sake.

Very cute, but now I'm worried there is going to be a 101 Dalmatian issue where people try to breed cats with permanently dilated pupils

Normally I would too, but this is (usually) caused by health issues and isn't genetic.

Is it natural for a cat's eyes to be that dilated all the time?

No, it's usually a sign of health problems (posted full info in this comment section).

This is the first time I've ever seen or read about Pisco & my IMMEDIATE reaction as a non-feline-care-giver was: something is very wrong for this animal's eyes to be dilated to such an extreme! I strongly suspect either animal abuse (with his eyes constantly being doused with Atropine) or neglect ( cat is ill & not receiving veterinary care). There are no identifying photos of an owner nor of location, which seems calculated to me. I think an investigation is genuinely warranted. This is very disturbing & concerning. Until it is known for certain, I think Instagram should, with an abundance of caution, not permit any further photos of Pisco until it's ascertained that he is not being abused or neglected.

I don't like this! Either there's something wrong with this poor cats eyes or someone is artificially manipulating them. This is one time I'm hoping its Photoshop.

Looks like they stimulate him with play (giant pupils for better hunting) and then snap a photo. My kitty gets giant pupils like this when she's in 'play mode'

😾Person who posted the article said "his cat eyes 24/7" & "eyes are always like that" but OP have found videos proving otherwise... the Liar!!! 🙀There is concern for Pisco (possibly) being continuously doused with Atropine without care for side effects🙀 just for flocking "likes" 😾

I believe this cat is what is called a Golden. They are basically a British Shorthair with a few other things crossed into and selected for that coloring. I see regular posts of them and yes very cute. The ones I’ve seen do not have the wholly dilated pupils.

I think there is a rising flood of hysterical finger pointing going on in this comment thread which needs to be nipped in the bud. MAYBE Pisco has a health condition which needs checking out - IF his eyes ARE always like this, which his actual owner never claimed, and there's video footage of him looking perfectly normal. If she stages shots of him like this when he's excited and his eyes dilate naturally, then where's the harm in that? I wish people would go and do a little more research and ask polite questions before jumping on a bandwagon with pitchforks...
