The Owner Of An Internet-Famous Cat Lil Bub Shares A Heartwarming Message To Announce Her Death
The fans of internet-famous cats had a tough year. With Grumpy Cat’s passing in May, more bad news just reached us. A couple of days ago, a goofy-faced kitty named Lil Bub passed away, too. Yesterday, his owner Mike Bridavsky announced her death on social media, with a heartwrenching tribute, mentioning all of the good deeds the beloved feline has done.

Lil Bub became a viral sensation soon after her first photo was posted on Tumblr in 2011. Quickly, she gathered over 2.4 million fans on her Instagram page and became one of the most recognizable cats on the internet.

What people loved about her the most? Clearly, her unique, overwhelmingly adorable looks are to blame. Lil Bub is known for her short snout, tiny limbs, big round eyes and a tongue that’s always sticking out. It is widely known that her signature looks are a result of several genetic deformities.

In 2015, scientists even crowdfunded a campaign so they could sequence Bub’s genome. The scientists wanted to find out why the feline has extra toes on her paws and no teeth. They also had questions about Lil Bub’s peculiar bones, called Erlenmeyer flask bones, that are much thicker than the bones of a regular cat.

Being the runt of the litter, Lil Bub required special care since her birth. Luckily, she had an amazing owner who took care of her. Bridavsky has always been open about his cat’s health issues. He says that Bub’s passing was unexpected for him.

Even though the poor cat was battling a bone infection, Bridavsky believed that it was not the time for his 8-year-old buddy to go just yet. However, two days ago, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Beyond being cute and a little bit different, Bub has made a difference in this world. She was an advocate for homeless and special needs cats. Lil Bub helped to create Lil BUB’s Big FUND for the ASPCA which is the first national fund for special needs pets. The feline raised over $300,000 for animals in need.

We will miss your tiny pink tongue, stubby little legs, adorable round owl eyes and loving personality. I am sure that Bub put a lot of smiles on people’s faces when they were having rough days. It is kind of amazing to think that Bub’s uniqueness and wonderful personality transcended borders- this little cat was loved by people around the world. So very sorry for the owners, but I hope that Bub’s legacy will continue to inspire just not animal lovers to help animals in need.

Lil Bub was a unique little cat who was affectionately referred to by her Dude as a cat from outer space. I like to think that rather than passing away, Bub was simply called to return back to her planet to spread happiness there. Thanks for sharing happiness on this planet, Bub!

That's 3 of the finest furry friends I've always loved gone now.... first sweet little Boo the worlds cutest dog, Grumpy Cat with her charming attitude towards everything and now Lil Bub.... RIP you floofy fuzz balls.... you will always have a place in our hearts

Poor baby! My husband and I were grocery shopping just yesterday. Bub's picture is on something in the cat aisle, and I pointed it out to him. Sad coincidence. So sorry, but glad to know he had a family who appreciated him.

Lil Bub wa an amazing cat. She bought happiness to so many pets & people. It was way to early for her time but I guess her body just gave out. Still crying to this day and it Wednesday. The world will remember her with so much love. RIP sweet Lil Bub:(

Wow, that made me tear up a little. Cats really are magic. I wasn’t a follower of BUB, but I wish I had been now. I’m just really relieved that she got to live her life with a family that loved her so so much. All animals / pets deserve that.
