Photographer Takes Aerial Photos Of Daily Commuters Around Mexico In His Series “Carpoolers” (30 Pics)
The journey of daily commuters around Mexico is captured in the photo series "Carpoolers" by Alex Cartagena.
Looking down at the picture, we take in each scene as it appears, eventually lulled into a pattern that resembles the haze of a prolonged road trip; eventually, the landscape blurs into nothing. Cartagena deliberately uses this strategy to highlight how the working class is invisible in a society that prioritizes material wealth more and more and is led by officials who keep giving the property away for development without a clear plan for the future. In his closely cropped images, Cartagena challenges us to think about the political and economic systems that distribute wealth, labor, and energy globally.

Imagine how many hours you have to labor and how long your commute must be in order to be able to fall asleep in the back of a cold, hard, bumpy truck bed.
All I can think of is how terribly unsafe this is. If the car swerves or crashes, those men have no chance.
How do I see anything out of the mirrors every mirrors I see on each truck the point right at the side of the truck
I'm thinking now the guys who can ride in a pickup with a plastic bedliner are the "lucky" ones.
Don't forget that this way of moving people is really dangerous and lethal
Yeah, I really hope they all stay safe out there. If they crash not only are they unsecured, but so is all that equipment in the truck. Those objects going flying have the potential to kill someone.
