35 Canadian Memes That Are Making People Crack Up At The Country’s Stereotypes
Canada is truly a place of wonder. With its nature and kind-hearted people, among other things, there’s much to love about the country. However, as with any point on the globe, Canada is not exempt from being meme-ified. The main reason for this is the fact that Canada is globally subject to a wide variety of stereotypes, which range from wholesome to “very Canadian.”
Whilst the term “stereotype” can be associated with negativity, this list of memes celebrates the unique nature of Canadian culture and quirks. After all, the internet simply loves to have a laugh at Canada in the best of ways.
Here at Bored Panda, we have collected some popular memes about Canada. Scroll down to see them all, and if you enjoy this list, consider leaving a comment and upvoting the entries you like the most, eh?

Most (but not all) public toilets at bus stations in Croatia will charge you some small amounts, and some places will even charge you more for poop and less for pee.
Load More Replies...back in the 70s and maybe early 80s many public toilets, especially in airports charged a dime. yes...sigh... I'm American.
I remember that! And people would have their kids crawl under to open the door without paying lol
Load More Replies...I'm from the UK. Toilets are free here and our healthcare (NHS) is free too, although I have always thought Canada sounds a great place to live!
Not all public toilets are free, in some tourist areas you have to pay.
Load More Replies...Health care is not free in Canada. We pay for it out of our taxes. It's "universal" health care - meaning (in theory) everyone gets the same care regardless of income. What it really means is that the wealthy can pay more to supplement the standard health care with private health care, and people on welfare get better care than the employed because they get free prescriptions. Everyone else can go to a doctor - if they can find one that is taking new patients, and who has appointments available in the next six months, only to get a prescription for meds that they can't afford. That's my experience in Ontario.
Ok first of all let’s just get out of the way that the American healthcare system sucks. It costs a lot of money. There are some things you can get easier or of better quality in America, but it costs. No one is more frustrated about this system than Americans. I am a type 1 diabetic who is a real estate agent and consultant so I don’t have employer paid coverage. So we good on this, got it out of the way? Ok let’s move on “free” is a word thrown around more inaccurately than any other, except maybe socialism. I have never met anyone who actually lives in Canada call their healthcare free. Certain Americans handle that for them. Nothing is free. Taxes pay for this, but also if you need prescription drugs, dental, vision and other elective procedures you are not covered. Also because it is a general tax you can’t really extrapolate how much of your tax dollars actually go to healthcare. Many employers cover the private insurance (US does this to varying degrees based on where you work), good God I miss my corporate job in NYC sometimes 😔. Yes nearly everything you need to pay on your own is much much less than the US. We got it, but it still isn’t free. Also yes there are much longer wait times than in other places, but not as long as many people think. There are also not as many doctors so it may be harder in certain areas to find a specialist you need, and you have to get a referral from your GP, so that can add an extra step. In addition this varies by province. Provinces are able to handle the rationing and other elements on the healthcare system independent of the Canadian government. In the end, the huge benefit of Canadian healthcare is the cost. Compared to the US, I mean duh. There are also certain elements in terms of quality that the US does better. This could go down an endless rabbit hole, but my point is can we please retire the word “free” when talking about Canadian or European healthcare? There is more covered, but again not free. Thank you. Also wtf is this toilet thing? Who pays to use the toilet?
Many years ago, washroom stalls in malls and businesses in Canada used to cost $0.10. They finally stopped it gotta be 25 - 30 years ago. Maybe longer lol. I remember as a kid climbing under the door to open it for someone who didn't have a dime and had an urgent need.
I have a vague recollection of that where I grew up in Ontario but think those have been gone for over 50 years now.
Load More Replies...Except in Cardiff- since they got rid of the lovely underground "Crapper" toilets built in the same design as Sir Thomas Crapper's (inventor of the modern loo) which always seem to be closed off in the city centre. Nowhere else seems to have working public toilets in Cardiff since the council shut them all down.
Load More Replies...We in Brazil have, free education, free healthcare and some public toilets
Brasil that have, some public toilets, free healthcare and free education
So happy Americans don't have free medical. Well we do, 3 out of 5 patients in hospitals have no insurance. I am 75 yrs old and worked probably 50 yrs in the corporate corps. I have worked with many foreign coworkers or clients.NEVER have I met anyone who was happy with government healthcare!! Many coworkers came to the US to work because of the medical insurance benefits. They complain about long waits and poor services. Also, if government healthcare is soooo good why do these countries still have private medical practices?
I'll take the Canadian tax-funded health care that will never see someone turned away at an ER over what you think is a great American system. Our health care has its issues - long wait times and high drug costs but at least I know that if I get cancer, I won't have to declare bankruptcy after a few rounds of chemo.
Load More Replies...Yet Canadians still go to amer for their medical treatment and procedures.
Yet many Canadians still come to America to get medical treatment.
Sweden has free toilets too. There are pay-toilets too. They tend be a bit cleaner as they're less prone to vandalism. No teenager is gonna pay to spray paint a toilet and steal all the paper if he can walk a block and do it for free.
Free health care? So all the taxes I pay are meaningless? And you always seem to forget the insanely long wait times.
It's not "free," though is it? Just paid for buy everyone instead of just those who need it.
Is it proper to clump the two in the same genre? I mean free poop and free doctors - come to think of it that's OK!
The United States is, by definition, a third world country. Don't believe me. Look up the definition. It is truly sad.
In France, if it's not free we'll piss everywhere. So it's becoming freer in mainly biggest cities. At the countryside, a bush or a tree is still the prefered option
I am feeling my age. I remember having to put coins in a slot to use public toilets in America.
I remember climbing under a toilet stall and opening it up from the inside for my brother cuz he had to go and didn't have a quarter.
Load More Replies...Yes, but the price of toilet paper is through the roof. Pay for use dispensers!
I'm probably going to move to Canada or the UK when I'm an adult and financially stable lol.
You didn't need to specify that you're from America - your righteous indignation over something you clearly didn't understand already told us.
Load More Replies...Seriously? Have you ... well, depends on your use of public toilets in europe. In Vienna (Austria) for example, there are 1 euro toilets underground with the subway.
Load More Replies...How long does it take to get an appointment with your PCP with the free healthcare?
YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP, YUP (just got YUP VIRUS but of this.........)
"I was actually targeting another victim" might not be the best argument at court.
My dad's family had children for tax purposes and to "help on the farm". They moved away from the farm.... but my dad had kids to help with the leaves.
But... She has too many...! Oh, wait, nevermind... That's just her child.
How do you keep it from curling? Take away their little tiny brooms.
My father passed this job off on me as soon as I was old enough to handle it on my own. Diesels from the 80s needed plugging-in even in Chicago.
If ice bikes are a thing, I wonder if moose saddles are as well 🤔
Me who freezes to death in slightly cold weather: yes yes tell me something I don’t know
My daughter is currently living in the UK - I bought her St Hubert poutine mix and tracked down a kg of curds for $70 for Christmas 😂
Load More Replies...They missed the Canadian Hat Trick; strip mall with Tim Hortons' Canadian Tire, & Petro-Can.
And unfortunately, right now, the whole freedom convoy that's morphing around to different countries. ......you actually can blame us (Canada) for once.
Well the majority of funding to keep the convoy alive comes from the USA... so... not sure who to blame.
Load More Replies...I love Canada but it still has huge issues with how it treats their Indigenous population.
just like USA, ZA, NZ, AUS, etc... any british colony.
Load More Replies...I love when non-Canadians comment on being Canadian and obviously haven't a clue what we're referencing 🤣🤣🤣 Definitely not long enough though!
Good Day, eh! I am surprised Bob and Doug McKenzie were not included in this list. I love each and everyone of these. Greetings from Alberta!
Adorable. I love Vancouver and Toronto. Would like to visit more parts of Canada.
This whole post speaks to my very soul as a very, very passionate Canadaphile.
I'm surprised Canada still has geese. I thought they migrated, but they headed south to NJ and decided to stay. Our high school soccer fields are loaded - and I do mean loaded - with poop. They hold up traffic on the roads. They've taken over our local lakes. At a town meeting someone said the best way to get rid of them is poison. A resound "NO!!!" rang through hall. So we now have the geese (population growing by the year) and the poop (growing by the year) and we've learned to live with it. Why aren't they going back to Canada? It's a nice place to live.

Load More Replies...Having a good time?!? It's an occupation. That convoy is massive joke, it's nothing but a tailgate party for our rednecks. They are disturbing thousands of local residents, hurting businesses, desecrated the tomb of the unknown soldier, littered like there's no tomorrow, picked fight's with people who were wearing masks and more.... Most people are "protesting" (and I use the term lightly) provincial regulations in front the the federal government.... And everyone has to be vaccinated to enter the USA, so even if our government changed their mind, the truckers still couldn't drive. What they are doing is pointless and they have to go home.
