Bride Surprises Grandmother By Wearing Her Wedding Dress From 1962 And Her Reaction Is Too Cute
‘Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe.’ So goes the old rhyme, which many still acknowledge today as a nice tradition that is said to bring luck to the bride.
23 year old bride-to-be Jordyn Cleverly decided that her ‘something borrowed’ would be the beautifully preserved wedding dress that her grandmother wore in 1962, when she married her childhood sweetheart. Lovely gesture right? It gets sweeter still. You see, Grandma Penny had no idea that Jordan had this special tribute planned, and only found out on the day of the rehearsal.
Photographer Kortney Peterson was there to capture the beautiful moment. “A first look unlike any other I’ve done before….Between this sweet bride and her grandma. The bride secretly got her widowed grandma’s dress from 1962, and is wearing it for her big day. Grandma had zero idea! Yes. You guessed it. I bawled.” She told Love What Matters. The emotions on Grandma Penny’s face are clear for all to see.“It was an absolutely beautiful moment and everyone around was silent. Tears began to stream from everyone’s faces,” Kortney said in an interview with Huffpost.
Jordyn had originally planned to reveal her secret only when actually walking down the aisle, but chose the rehearsal instead to do the special ‘first look’ photoshoot. “I didn’t want her to see the dress for the first time walking down the aisle and just start sobbing and have all those memories come back to her,” Jordyn told Inside Edition, adding that the moment had left grandma Penny “just speechless.”

Oh my goodness. I'm not crying. You're crying. What a touching idea.
I wore the coat of my grandfather at my wedding.... not the same effect :-)
It's such a wonderful idea ! I tried my grandma wedding dress once, and it was a sweet moment to share with her <3
Fantastic story. The dress is absolutely beautiful and both brides looked stunning wearing it.
It's an absolutely stunning dress! Grandma has/had amazing taste! Seriously, I might have worn a dress like that without the sentimental aspect!
This is amazing! I have my mom's wedding dress. I hope one day one of my daughters will wear it.
Beautiful and really an ageless style. Many dresses still use the lace an buttons in the back , even though tradition is great sometimes its a bit tricky to get in the dress
I'm not... Being ignorant here but can someone explain to me what's the big deal with wearing the same dress? Is it a respect your elders thing going on?
I guess it depends on the bride's family and culture. I didn't do it, but know people who wore the same dress for sentimental reasons. Or if their grandparents had a wonderful life together, they might wear the dress because they're wishing for the same for their marriage
