We Asked People To Tell Us Some Missed Opportunities For Food Brands They’ve Noticed And “Created” Dream Food Collaborations (7 Pics)
Whether it’s to court controversy or to offer up some strange solution to a problem, we’ve seen a number of “food collaborations” in recent times – from baked beans on Weetabix (ew!) to Marmite Easter eggs (also ew!) and Cadbury’s Creme Egg mayonnaise (what?!).
But we can’t help thinking that there are some missed opportunities for the food brands that cater to, well, the idle amongst us.
In fact, there are even missed opportunities to put some of the biggest divisive food issues to rest. For example, why waste precious time arguing whether the cream or jam is spread first on a scone?
Why can’t it be both at the same time (It’s jam first, but let’s not argue)?!
So, we put our heads together with CDA Appliances and asked a bunch of people which food hacks/brand mashups would make their lives even easier when it comes to tucking into their favorite treats. We then set about “creating” them and we’re definitely here for some of these. Others, not so much.
Firstly, we spoke to friends and family about what food combos they eat that others might find a little odd, we then asked them which foods are the most annoying when it comes to grabbing a quick snack. From there, we extended our curiosity to social media before finally asking which combo people would like to see that they feel would make snack time a little easier… and we weren’t disappointed!

Wotsits and Marigold gloves

Our favorite cheesy snacks are delicious, but the mess eating them leaves is, quite frankly, annoying. What better way to avoid having to get up out of our cheese-stained bed to wash our hands than to wear specially branded Marigold gloves?! These household favorites are perfect for preventing cheesy digits, and in a stylish way too! Maybe.
McDonalds and Nesquik milkshake

We’re informed that the young’uns of today enjoy dipping their French fries into hurr… sorry. Into MILKSHAKE. Weird as this sounds, what’s a more convenient way to feed this habit than to provide little milkshake ‘sauce’ pots alongside your ketchup? Or maybe you don’t want a whole milkshake? Choices. It’s all about choices.
Also, why not bring Nesquik back into the game? ’90s nostalgia at its finest.
Kraft cheese slices and Sunpat peanut butter

Peanut butter is a dream on the taste buds, but an absolute nightmare to spread. Some busy folk doesn’t want to be bothered with spreading things and putting knives in the dishwasher!
Nope. Give us a tasty nutty layer in the convenience of an individually wrapped slice that we can just plonk on our toast and be done with it. Sounds messy, but surely there’s a science bod out there who can make this happen?
Smirnoff vodka and watermelon

Ok, so technically this isn’t a brand mashup as such, but as everyone is busy force-feeding watermelons vodka ready for the summer, Smirnoff may as well step in and do it properly. A handy bottleneck design would facilitate the feeding of the vodka, but you could also (after a stint in the freezer and good shakeup) pour watermelon vodka slushies on demand!
Domino’s and Del Monte pineapple chunks

Okay, so from conversations we’ve overheard, pineapple on pizza is a universally approved and accepted topping, right? (we joke)
With that in mind, isn’t it annoying when you have to go to the effort of placing a Domino’s order, then wait for ages for it to be delivered? Why not just empty a tin onto some toast, maybe sprinkle on some cheese and then pop it in the oven for 5 minutes. Et voila!
Bagsy the rights to this one.
Patak’s curry and Müller yoghurt corner

Everyone loves a good curry! And some like it hotter than others. For those who like yoghurt or raita to cool things down a bit, traipsing to the fridge after you’ve got all comfy on the sofa with your curry is beyond inconvenient.
But wait.
Harnessing the brilliance of Müller’s yoghurt corner design, this could be a problem of the past, except this time the curry is the main show and Baby… sorry, yoghurt is in the corner this time.
Rodda’s clotted cream and Hartley’s jam

This is a big one guys.
A game-changer.
Opening the door to world peace.
A marriage of two households.
Clotted cream and jam shall be equal upon the scone. No more family feuds, no more raised eyebrows, and no more ‘blobbing’ or ‘dolloping’. No cream first. No jam first. They enter the stage together, in a swirling embrace.
Seriously though, this might be quite nice.

We’ve seen a lot of “foodie mash-ups” in the media and even in supermarkets in recent times where brands have come together to create something unique, and we were curious about why these came to be. We wondered if these were things that people actually wanted, especially some of the weirder ones! With that, we set about asking people what kind of combo they’d want to see and it seems that people do appreciate a collaboration.
My favorite food collaboration has to be the jam and cream “peace swirl”. In the UK (and even further afield), there’s a lot of contention about whether you should put the jam or the cream on a scone first, it’s all good fun of course but it seems it’s an argument that doesn’t have an answer… well I think we might have solved the problem! Some hardcore afternoon tea lovers will probably think it’s a completely blasphemous idea, but I think it’s genius!
What do you think, pandas? Which food brand collaboration would be your dream come true?

Share on FacebookYou don't need gloves to eat cheesy snacks without getting your hands dirty. I use chopsticks.
They should definitely make peanut butter slices and I'd definitely buy them 😆
They had those at one time. I think Kraft made them. https://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=87943&page=1

I would definitely buy the p-butter slices and the ham-and-pineapple madness. Take that, tastebuds 😅👍
I'd suggest trying it with a vanilla one first!

OF COURSE it's jam first! If you put the cream on first, how are you supposed to spread the jam - cream is too soft to hold it. It's insanity!
Load More Replies...They would have to add SO MUCH artificial garbage to peanut butter slices for them to peel the wrapper off. Great idea though! Frankly, why isn't there Jam/jelly in each slice?
Pineapple is amazing on ham. Pineapple with pizza sauce and cheese is disgusting.
You know how to stop getting your fingers all covered with orange dust when eating cheese balls, or sticks, etc? Use chopsticks. Makes you slow down and appreciate every bite.
The pineapple and ham is a horrible idea! The pineapple will break down the ham into a slim by the time you open it
Nothing against the pineapple on food folks, but how gross would a tin of ham and pineapple be? The ham would be all soggy and ...yuck!
Tbf, pineapple braised ham is bloomin' delicious, not sure I'd want it out of a tin though! haha
Load More Replies...I'm pretty sure there is already watermelon vodka. I think I saw it in the store the other day. Hmm....
But can you buy a watermelon already infused with vodka? ;)
Load More Replies...When I was in college at Oklahoma State in 2004 we had a speaker who had invented peanut butter slices. He said his job was to take the sticky out of peanut butter. They were apparently sold at a few grocery stores in Oklahoma but I never saw them so I guess they didn't take off...🤷♀️😂
Peanut butter probably like the consistency in the Ritz sandwiches... Reeses might work too, but not as dry as the Ritz peanut butter.
Load More Replies...Fairly certain they did make peanut butter and jelly slices! And they were good!!! I know it wasn't a fever dream.
How would you keep the peanut butter slices from sticking to the plastic? You wouldn't. You'd either have to get a knife and scrape it off anyway or only get 1/4 of the peanut butter on your bread.
Probably with the same additives and emulsifiers you find in cheese slices? 🤷♀️
