Street Artist Creates ‘Valley Of Secret Values’ By Transforming Crumbling Concrete Structures Into Designer Bags
Thrashbird is an LA-based street artist, best known for his stencils and paintings that he usually creates on the city walls or billboards.
Thrashbird’s latest project, called “Valley Of Secret Values,” aims to be a cautionary tale against the obsessive consumerism. The artist has transformed the crumbling concrete structures of an abandoned power plant in Oregon, into a series of murals of designer bags. The idea came when he was on a painting expedition and came across the maze of old concrete structures. “To see [the stones] crumbling with the passage of time, returning to the earth as a dust, well the metaphor was too strong to disregard,” the artist said.
“We’ve come to a place in society where things and social status have become more important than our connection to each other.”
