Woman Blocks BF Of 2 Years After Catching Him Messing With Her Pills He Thought Were Birth Control

When you and your partner are ready, starting a family is a beautiful thing. Bringing new life into the world and raising little ones into lovely adults can be an amazing experience. But the thing about having children is that you should only do it when you’re certain that you’re ready, and trying to force someone to become a parent is a horrible thing to do.

One woman recently reached out to Reddit seeking advice after she caught her boyfriend tampering with her birth control and immediately sent him packing. Below, you’ll find all of the details, as well as some of the replies concerned readers shared.

RELATED:

Everyone has the right to choose whether or not they want to become a parent

So when this woman caught her boyfriend trying to tamper with her birth control, she knew the relationship was over

There are many factors to consider before deciding to become a mother

It’s common for one partner to have baby fever sooner than the other. Whether you’ve just visited your adorable nieces and nephews or it seems like all of your friends have gotten pregnant at the same time, you might be more eager to start a family than your partner or spouse. But it’s important to wait until you’re both on the same page, for the sake of your relationship and your child. And if one person isn’t ready, “no” means “absolutely not.”

While having a baby can be a daunting experience for anyone, there’s no doubt that it takes a larger toll on women. Pregnancy is certainly no walk in the park, but it only gets more challenging from there.

Childbirth is still quite dangerous for both mother and child, and about 15% of moms will experience postpartum depression after having a child. And despite the fact that 98% of women want to keep their jobs after having kids, it often takes over a decade for their careers to bounce back after starting a family.

It’s understandable that men may sometimes overlook all of these concerns that women have to consider before deciding to get pregnant, because they don’t all directly affect them. But if your partner explains that they’re not ready to have children, that boundary should be accepted.

Unfortunately, the man in this story is not the first to ever try tampering with a partner’s birth control. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, this is a form of abuse called reproductive coercion, or birth control sabotage.

Common examples of this include hiding or destroying birth control pills, poking holes in condoms or removing a condom without alerting the partner, refusing to pull out after agreeing to ahead of time, and removing a birth control device, such as an IUD or vaginal ring, without informing the partner.

Birth control sabotage is a common yet dangerous form of abuse

If a woman who’s a victim of reproductive coercion does become pregnant, her partner may continue their abuse by using violence or threats to force her to carry out the pregnancy to full term. Sadly, this abuse is much more common than many people realize.

USA Today reports that a quarter of teen girls with abusive partners and 15% of women who have been physically abused have also been victims of birth control sabotage. Another study from Northern California found that a fifth of women between the ages of 16 and 29 who attended health clinics admitted that their partners had pressured them to get pregnant.

So what can women do when their partners go out of their way to secretly get them pregnant? Well, unfortunately, FindLaw notes on their site that birth control sabotage is not technically illegal at the moment. However, there are some laws that might be able to help victims, depending on where they live. For example, coercive control is illegal in England and Wales.

FindLaw also notes that the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists considers reproductive coercion to be a form of violence. So it’s possible that abuse in this form could be considered assault or rape, depending on the circumstances. It would not be the easiest crime to prosecute, but the law protects victims of violence. And being impregnated without consent would almost certainly be considered an act of violence by victims.

We would love to hear your thoughts on this situation in the comments below, pandas. Do you think this woman was right to immediately break up with her boyfriend over this? Feel free to share, and then if you’re interested in reading another Bored Panda piece discussing similar relationship issues, look no further than right here.

Readers were quick to share their concern for the woman, and she joined in on the conversation to provide more details

Its because of the other women harrassing her. They should be ashamed of themselves, protecting him like that. He is responsible for being an a*****e, but they have some blame here for their behaviour

Although there is no ban on abortion nation-wide in the USA, I'm afraid this kind of thing will happen more often since women now have less recourse to abortion. This guy's attitude fits the trend of men (although women must have voted for a ban on abortion aswell) taking away a woman's right to her own body. Just a thought: isn't that also part of the definition of being a slave?

It's very sad that she is even doubting herself for her feelings, which are completely valid. He didn't just intend on tampering with her birth control (although I question the intelligence of someone microwaving a foil packet), he was tampering with her education, her future earning potential, and her LIFE. This is no small thing, and definitely worthy of throwing his a*s out.

So… if a crime does not succeed, then there was no crime, right? Hmm… I think they should release all those people who are in jail for attemped murder then. After all, they did not kill anyone.

i know this is sarcasm, but also microwaving her gall bladder pills is still a crime. i take several medications that are temperature controlled. if my digestive enzymes, insulin, or thyroid meds got hot and their efficacy was denatured, it could have fatal results.

I'm glad someone else is bothered by this. I realize I'm looking past the point of the post, but microwaving a pill pack that is plastic and foil is not a slick way to mess with pills. It would actually result in pills impeded in melted plastic due to a small fire in the microwave....

So they're telling you you should take him back, because his attempt at manipulating your medication was unsuccessful by him being stupid? That's quite somewhere! That's really far beyond, and then some, and then some, and some more! They're nuts, the whole bunch of them are. Is that enough of an attempt to hurt somebody to place a restraining order? I'd look into such, and if possible, apply such and enforce with everything on hand, on call, on earth.

Make a formal complaint, even without being able to prove internet to rape, tampering with meds is illegal. It's unlikely anything will come ifnit, but it will make it easier for future potential partners to validate any concerns they have or press charges if they need to. It doesn't matter that it didn't do anything to your birth control. What matters is "he thought it would". What's next? He sabotages your heart meds because he likes the lunches they bring you when you're in the hospital? He doesn't like your kidney donor so he ruins your anti-rejection meds? The guy is a psycho and you should check with the police about filing charges. D**g tampering is a crime.

Down voting this content as it's another of the many negative content on Bored Panda, which is far from what their mission states, "The mission is to spread good news and highlight top artists from around the world." Case in point is this post and many more which are about deception, personal problems, grudges arguments, cheating, divorce, getting back at others. In general it's becoming increasingly negative. Don't block the flying monkeys; their texts and calls will only serve to solidify the evidence against her abuser. She was right to get rid and his family, albeit having only heard his version, are as bad as he is. She has the right to choose her life and lifestyle and not be railroaded into his. Lucky escape.

I'll start off by saying that she should have called the police and had him charged with whatever would stick, and a punch in the face would have been appropriate as well. What is true, though, is that if a female academic wants a child, grad school is probably the best time, BUT (a big one) only if they have partner who's willing to help. I feel that the OP's decision not to have a child was because she knew (consciously or not) that having a child with this PoS was a bad idea. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that he had been toxic the entire two years. Everything she wrote tells me that she wasn't comfortable in the relationship, but was probably being gaslit and manipulated to stay. I don't say that lightly, but the fact that she is more angry than sad is a good indicator.

You can. It depends on the city and state. Tampering with prescription medications is a federal offense, at least the last time I checked. Be they laxatives or heart medications, that creep crossed the line. He was determined to make OP a "trad wife," and she had no say in it.

At the very least he deserves a criminal record

Bored Panda should be remaned as Negative Panda. SAD

even if she doesn't want to bother with pressing charges for herself, she should for the women he will meet in the future. if he doesn't face legal consequences then he will try this again with the next woman, or something worse. he needs consequences and a criminal record so he either learns his lesson or comes with a warning label.

He's the huge AH here but to end his harassing you by email phone or whatever, threaten to charge him with that AND fkg with you meds. OP needs to do everything to protect herself, from notifying her landlord and the university, to filing a police report. Don't block the flying monkeys; their texts and calls will only serve to solidify the evidence against her abuser. I hope that OP got her locks changed; I wouldn't trust him or his fa-a-a-a-mily to not show up on her doorstep to harass her.

Making Mac and cheese in a microwave? Weird. Anyway he should be arrested for a trying to sabotage her birth control and for possibly wrecking the efficacy of her ‘s**t’ pills.
