Woman Posts Outfit Pics Her Boyfriend Hates, Captions Each One With A Quote From Him (30 Pics)
One way to prove a point to your significant other is to start an Instagram account, make it go viral and have thousands of people agreeing with you. That's exactly what London blogger Olivia Jackson did, starting the page @clothesmyboyfriendhates, with over 60K followers loving the outfits she wears that her boyfriend just can't stand.
Does your significant other always agree with your fashion choices? Scroll down below to see Olivia's favorite 'controversial' clothes, as well as some of her boyfriend's witty criticisms, for yourself, and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Me as soon as the sun comes out ...Dressed like a farmer according to my boyfriend!
"My inspiration came from my boyfriend's sarcastic comments about my outfits, but my willingness to wear them anyway, and him still loving me anyway," Olivia told Bored Panda. "I wanted to, and still aim to, empower women to dress for themselves rather for others around them.
Because couples don't always have to agree on everything, it's how you deal with your differences that is key to a long-lasting relationship. Jackson and her boyfriend clearly have a matching sense of humor and don't take themselves too seriously – this really helps!
"Humour definitely plays a big part!" she said. "He probably doesn't appreciate them because he doesn't keep up with women's fashion trends and that I'm partial to a bright colour or something with pom poms on. Luckily, he's now used to me wearing them anyway and not listening so there's not too much negotiation - just an eye roll or sarcastic comment from him usually!"
Our Saturday morning..
‘My car doesn’t need fixing Liv’
‘I know it doesn’t?’
‘Why are you dressed like a mechanic then?’
*glare*
’I’ll bring you coffee’
Olivia doesn't think that women should care what their partners think about their choice of clothing, but she understands those that do. "If you're not particularly confident about yourself (and we've all been there), your partner's opinion can really affect how you feel about your fashion choices," she continued. "I think your partner should love you for you, not for what you're wearing!
“My boyfriend actually loves that I’ve found a community of other women whose partners hate their fashion choices too. Despite his sarcastic comments and eye rolls, he still comes out with me wearing a ‘hospital gown’ or ‘mechanics outfit’ and is totally supportive of me wearing what I want and dressing for myself.”
At least I had a puppy glued to me all day to cover the ‘toddler outfit’ he hates
Obviously he asked me why I was going out dressed as a flamenco dancer though
This is the ultimate message of Olivia's page: have the confidence in your own choices, even if cheeky loved ones either don't get it, or just enjoy taking the piss from time to time.
“I started writing my blog in May 2018, shortly after starting my Instagram page. On the whole, the feedback to both has been overwhelmingly supportive. I regularly get messages from women thanking me for inspiring them to be a bit more brave which their fashion choices, which I absolutely love and it reassures me that I'm doing the right thing by sharing. I've met a lovely community of women who are now dressing for themselves which is great!"
I’m not 100% sure what he hates more - it’s reflectiveness, or the fact my mum has the same one and we’ll happily wear them together.
His comment about this one when I wore it for my first day in a new job: ‘it’s very blue, isn’t it?!’
Dungarees will always be firmly in the #clothesmyboyfriendhates category. Often told I look like a toddler. With this outfit, he just sung YMCA to me!?
I'm no fan of turtlenecks (unless they're on a turtle) but the pants are great!
‘I’ve never seen a mechanic wear pink before to be fair’ J said as he dropped me off at Galentines dinner
J once told me this looked like something the queen would wear but I am a queen so?
My boyfriend’s told me this blazer looks like pyjamas and a male colleague at work today said, ‘oh that’s a jazzy coat Liv’
The other day I was asked what item of clothing my boyfriend hates the most. I reckon it’s this technicolour dreamcoat dress of dreams
Last night’s clown clothes
As a guy I can say, we don’t care what you wear as long as you don’t ask us about it haha
while you may and many guys around you may agree don't generalise an entire gender based on your opinion. maybe im being to pc but I just wanted to mention that
Load More Replies...At least her accessories actually match well this time with the tailored jumpsuit. The top looks better than the bottom!
Not totally awful, the pattern makes me feel that the clothes are wearing you, rather than the other way around.
John Sampson: that "distracting pole" might be to hold the clown hat that squirts water out of it! LOL :)
Load More Replies...I think it's very festive looking and perfect for a beach town.
It might be the angle of the photo but they make her legs look very short.
I thought so too. I think it’s the way the stripes are at the crotch area.
Load More Replies...The outfit is cute. The hair and makeup need much work to go with this outfit without looking clownish.
‘What are those?’
‘Aren’t they fun?!’
‘They’re ridiculous!’
I think they look like something a unicorn would wear )) Love it ))
Very much loving the fact Autumn is coming! He very much hates these ‘slippers’
These shorts are not only hated by my boyfriend, but his grandad also commented that they were ‘err.. different’ last time I wore them
Jack’s working away this week, and when I sent him a photo of this dress he at first said ‘summery’ - when I sent a different angle which showed my trainers he said he hated it.
My boyfriend when I produced this scrunchie from the Wear the Dress day goody bag: ‘Is that a swatch of the fabric? Does it grow into a real dress?’ ‘Nooo, It’s a scrunchie!’ ‘Do you have to dye that too?’
Another day, another leopard dress (he also hates mustard so this one’s a double winner!)
He hates bright, bold, blue... Neutrals I get it - they are called neutral for a reason. But wtf DOES he like?
According to J’s mate, ‘they’re shite pants them’ (say it in a scouse accent). J thought I looked like I was going to work
Can't stand the "trainers" are they your standard dress? Spots on these pants "wear" you as they are too big. Small ones would be great.
J HATED these when I wore them last time we were there. Actually, my whole family abused me for them, but they remind me of the jelly shoes I used to have on holiday as a child!
He made me stand next to the car I was ‘about to fix’ for this one. I am a bit of a car nut though so I’m not complaining.
I bought these while I was shopping with my boyfriend and you can imagine his face when I put them on he said ‘I don’t understand them’
I suspect she is actively requesting his opinion, and obviously takes it in good humour. He seems quite astute in his observations.
She does wear some pretty weird stuff but she has every right to do it, and it reflects her style. I actually think the boyfriend is pretty funny some of the things he says. I get there feeling their difference of opinion on her clothing is pretty light-hearted. Hopefully they have fun with it.
Your idea and mine of weird are very different Paul.
Load More Replies...At first i was thinking "well, this guy doesn't like anything". But then I re-read the story between the pictures, and my guess is that it has became a game between them to "fuel" her/their Instagram page.
Does everyone really think the boyfriend has said all of those things? Seems to me she's an attention seeking blogger...with terrible taste!
Thank you! it's f*****g obvious she's just seeking attention... maybe just a couple of outfits would make more sense.
Load More Replies...Her boyfriend is right like 80% of these examples. But this blog only covers the outfits he hates, so theoretically there might be lots of outfits he loves and even says nice things about. But those aren't funny for a blog :p
I don't think he was right about any of them, but I guess that's a matter of taste. Where there is no question (at least not for me) is that the thing he's saying about those outfits are really not nice and horrible in some cases. Given how many outfits it affects and how often he must be saying those things, he doesn't sound like a nice guy. At all.
Load More Replies...If you hate each other that much, than you should just break up people. -_-
Ahahahah! This one is funny without this second coma that should have been there otherwise. ♥
Load More Replies...Her boyfriend is 100% right. She's so very pretty she can get away with this truly bizarre wardrobe. Dressed in more flattering clothes she'd be stunning, which she might not want. Marie Kondo the lot.
She's a beautiful woman, I'm sure inside and out. But as far as the fashion goes, I agree with her boyfriend. Then again, I've had pink hair as a grown a*s adult so, I say girlfriend, DO YOU!
My takeaway is that the boyfriend doesn't like much. Maybe he expects her to parade about unclothed?
He's spot on. Her fashion choices are brutal. You say he doesn't like much, which suggests that she wears almost every style out there.
Load More Replies...I think the boyfriend is challenged each time to try to think of something to say. In my opinion it's a game between them.
I think she looks amazing in all of these so I guess we have similar tastes, except for that dressing gown coat. i mean, That is exactly what I wear to put the bins out after work when I’m too lazy to find a real cardy, my work clothes and my dressing gown which looks just like that 😂
She looks adorable in all of it - you should be able to have a fun, adventurous sense of style when you're young. He seems awfully passive-aggressive about something that has no reflection on him.
Well he's not wrong.....Geez... They mostly look frumpy to me. Sorry not to be rude but he's just calling it as he sees it.
I am saddened by this bf's treatment of this woman. He should know better than to put her down all the time.
which means the b/f gets no closet space in their apartment
Load More Replies..."My boyfriend insults me every time I get dressed.... and every time he does, I choose to celebrate it, and tell everyone "..... and this is good, why? :o :(
In small doses I think he is funny but after reading all of his comments above I sort of started to think "What the freak does he like?"
Does he hate everything she wears?!?! I think they are all very cute{exept for the swimsuit}
I just got out of an abusive relationship and he would make comments like these. He said most of my clothes look like something a grandma would wear. I hope her Boyfriend is just saying these things in good fun. You should be free to be you
Does she wear anything he likes...? There is nothing wrong with any of these!
I may not like some items, but I totally get that she wears whatever makes her feel happy. And that's super great. Most of us don't even have the courage.
My hubby is just as opiniated as her boyfriend. He can often be heard criticizing what I wear while he can't even buy himself decent socks and underwear! I used to take his "advice" but nowadays I don't, just answering "WHATEVER" when he gives one"
I suppose if she’s asking for his opinion and wants a snarky answer than this is acceptable. Otherwise, he’s acting like a total “joy stealer”. I came up with this term for people that will actively trash something that I have told them I love or is important to me. Ie “ewwww mint chip ice cream tastes like toothpaste!” “ how can you even like this movie” “you actually LIKE that”. It’s unnecessary and you aren’t being honest, you’re being douche canoe.
This appears to be a young lady in serious need of a man who appreciates her no matter what she chooses to wear. I would not tolerate the constant disparaging remarks.
This isn't an excuse for other people to be rude about what she wears! Her boyfriend must love her and I bet their conversations are jokingly meant. On the other hand some of the comments here are totally uncalled for and b****y. She clearly doesn't care, she wears clothes that she loves for herself. Thank goodness we are all free to express ourselves how we choose, it would be boring if we were all the same... so many think how you would feel it people were b****y about your dress sense!
Run run run.. If he love you.. Next he tels you what to thing and... One time is funny but..
I hope he makes these comments jokingly and all in good fun and not constantly putting you down and trying to make you feel bad about yourself. Your a beautiful girl and all of your outfits are amazing!
Hi everyone I'm from Dallas County Tx., My husband who has left me for 7 months because of his new found mistress is back, We have been married for 14 years with 3 beautiful kids. I love my husband so much but I could not stop him. I need our marriage to work, I have read countless books on how to please your husband but none worked. I suffered alone with our kids until someone tweet on twitter about how she got his cheating boyfriend back and now they are married. I contacted her on twitter and she told me that I should give (www.lovesolutiontemple.com) a chance to help me bring back my husband using spell casting. I am not a fan of things like that but just for the sake of my marriage to work, and I also do not want to raise our kids in a broken hope home as a single mother. I used the spell service to bring back my husband. I wrote to the love solution temple to seek for help on how to release my husband from the charms of the other woman.
I'd be exhausted with the criticism. Not my kind of relationship. I mean, my partner doesn't have to love everything I wear but constant c**p like this? It would get old after the third time or so.
Leave her alone, she's dresses just fine... making comments like her BF is doing is demoralising and ridiculing her but if she is happy to be with someone who acts like a k**b and a fashionista so be it but if it were were I'd f**k him off pronto and find somebody who accepts me for me and who isn't into making smart Alec remarks about me!
I love her boyfriend's comments!! Very dry humour but obviously loves her enough to stay despite her wardrobe!! I must say though, most outfits she showed off would look a lot better with proper shoes not looking like she's ready to go to the gym!!
to be fair she does looks odd most of the time...however happy to see that she's happy.
Unless this is "teasing," I think she should dump this guy. She obviously likes bold fashions, and she should wear whatever she likes, including comfortable shoes. I would have kicked him to the curb already.
It’s clear this is for Instagram and to get followers, which is the point. If the BF always had kind things to say, people would be bored. It’s all in the humor. I think it’s funny. Some of his comments are spot-on.
She needs to dress for her, not him or anyone else anyway.
I didn't realize that men have the ability to discern anything about one's wardrobe. I'm impressed
My husband said to me one day, "Don't get me wrong, I think you dress very well and you always look great. Everyone says so. But how come in all the years we've been together you've never asked me how I like a certain outfit or how you look?" I replied, "Well, I know what colors I look good in, I know what looks good on my body shape and I'm a grown-up." Never another word out of him on that subject.
How does he not get embarrassed by this beautiful "bag lady?" Either she has a crazy sense of humour or is doolally, and miles away from being eccentric even. HE IS 100% RIGHT! SHE HAS NO SENSE IF STYLE.
I agree with the boyfriend! These outfits seem the type of clothes other women will like not men, but to be honest I am a woman and I do not think she looks good in any of these. I understand you do not want a man who tells you what to wear but if you do not want your guy or any men to find you attractive, you are going the right path. Why would you rather not the opposite sex or your partner to totally feel attracted to you? I have no clue! Would you like if your partner wears everyday clothes that look terrible on him, even if his male friends like it? Women have terrible sense of fashion because they have no clue what makes their body look great, all they care is to look snob or comfy. One day women are going to realize that they do not look good on pijamas.
There's nothing wrong with her clothes. I personally think the white Keds with thin white socks are very unflattering to wear with anything except shorts and a tee shirt And please don't wear them with dresses and skirts.
I suspect the boyfriend would like to see her in more sophisticated gear! Those white joggers she is constantly wearing are more appropriate for long walks and really casual outfits.
I’m with the boyfriend on most of these outfits 😂 they both have a good sense of humor. His opinion doesn’t seem to suede her any so no harm. They are just having fun with one another
I’d like a fashion show from him before I decide what’s what!
I don't understand all the onesies. One needs to strip completly everytime you need to go to the bathroom.
her boyfriend is right about the clothes, but he ought to STFU if she's worth being with otherwise
I would dump his sorry a*s in a New York minute. There is no humor in constant criticism. We don't see him. He wouldn't know Brooks Brothers if the label slapped him in the face.
So as someone who has a history of being an "interesting dresser" whether or not the BF is a twat depends entirely on If the opinion is asked for, and If she genuinely thinks his opinions are funny. My ex husband, was someone who constantly put down what I was wearing, he would pass it off like it was a joke, but if I didnt change, he would get angry. I personally prefer my current husbands method of not saying a word if he dosent like something, and commenting on the things he does like. There are times when I know something is silly and we can have a good laugh, but there are other times when I have no idea something is silly or im depressed and wear the same pj's night and day for a week when he uses his good judgement and dosent give an opinion. Im fairly certain its one of the things that makes the relationship a good one.
What a fun gal! We could be twins for all the things we seem to love the same! I notice her boyfriend is NOT in ANY of the photos. I'll just bet he lives in blue jeans and plain jacket, no color, no style. Hope his dry wit doesn't crush her fun spirit of fashion. I'll bet she gets noticed and he's wall paper. GO FOR IT, GIRL!
The boyfriend is spot on aboit these and obviously the one with an eye for fashion. But you do you, girl. You do you.
To be fair, I hate the white trainers with everything. And the overalls. And the loud patterns and colors. But that's just me. I don't do quirky.
I wonder why she stays with a man who has nothing nice to say about what she wears. Sounds like a lot and trying to tear her down so she doesn't leave her self a better man.
I think her boyfriend is a bit of a dip s**t. She has style! Maybe he’s intimidated by her .
For all the men freaking out: She loves her boyfriend, he loves her, he says some offhand dry humor stuff, she turned it into a successful Instagram. He's not being verbally abusive, she's just playing up his 'hate' of certain clothing items for fun and for the delight of her growing following. Both she and her boyfriend are loving it, and he probably states whether he likes or 'hates' something upon her request. Also, let's be serious here: He's probably the one taking the pics for her.
I hope that they have other things to talk about besides her outfits.
DYING that the first pic is a jumpsuit- my husband haaaates when I wear jumpsuits! I for one, LOVE her style.
Lady has more clothes than many small countries have in total. Kind of wasteful.
First off, her bf is hating on some perfectly normal outfits. Which begs the question, the hell does he want her to wear? Second as she runs a whole page on this, she is obviously asking for his critiques on her clothes, and as Monster Munch said below, they are probably taken in good humour
The first photos were great, but then I started thinking her boyfriend is right. She wears what's stylish, not flattering. Can't match shoes with the rest. Makes her legs seem fat, while they have potential, so why? He just wants her to look good, I think. And she chooses not to most of the time. Nice that he accepts her, though.
All her outfits are nice, she just doesn’t know how to do hair, makeup or accessories and neither her nor her boyfriend has figured it out that it’s not the clothes, it’s the styling.
Yeah... not even remotely trying to be mean... she has a couple of good outfits in here, but overall - she should probably listen and not dismiss her boyfriend's opinions.
I agree with her BF on at least 1/2 of those outfits. And the trainer shoes ruin a lot of the looks. But more power to her, if she loves them, she should certainly wear them.
Honestly, she didn't have many nice, tailored outfits. She should listen to her boyfriend
Of course she's very pretty with a good figure. Things would be different if she were short and frumpy. Feels kinda thirsty. "No, you look beautiful!"
I smell a way to get attention here and all that fake. Those sets don't differ anyhow from the tons of so called influences and fashion bloggers and all that, with the exeption, that those are 'hated by the bf".
PS: If I were you, I'd never ask him if your outfit makes your butt look big. I can only imagine what he'd say.
