Tired Boy And His Cow Lose Out At Dairy Fair, Fall Asleep And Win The Internet

A 15-year-old boy named Mitchell Miner and his cute cow Audri recently participated in the Iowa State Fair dairy cattle show. Despite their hard work and effort, they finished only fifth out of seven. Feeling exhausted, the duo took a nap, when the boy’s father came in and snapped a cute photo of the boy and adorable dairy cow snuggling side by side.

The picture was shared with the following caption: “Our son Mitchell and his heifer after showing yesterday.” It immediately went viral and gained more than 15,000 likes by the next day.

“I think it’s just when you spend that much time with farm animals, they get really comfortable,” Laura Miner, the boy’s mother, told the Des Moines Register. Both she and her husband grew up on a farm, but now that they live elsewhere, they want their children to connect to their roots. Therefore, the family borrows animals for the summer so that her kids can get a feel for the farm life and human-animal friendships.

“We learned a lot from the farm,” Jeremy Miner, Mitchell’s dad, said. “We have those values instilled in us, and we are trying to do what we can to preserve that.”

As for Audri the napping cow, she will be heading back to the dairy farm once the showings finish in September.

Believe it or not and I just Googled this and I thought it was amazing, cows are generally very intelligent animals who can remember things for a long time. Animal behaviorists have found that cowa interact in socially complex ways, developing friendships over time and sometimes holding grudges against other cows who treat them badly.

Worked with cows for a few months and can attest to that. They have a sense of humor too and will tease you if you're nervous around them.

Google hey well it must be fact! I've spent a fair bit of time with cows over my life and they are such great animals, the dexter and Angus breed are especially cheeky and will often stir up the horses including sneaking up behind them to scare them !

They can also be ridden if they trust you well enough. My friend used to ride hers on the beach before the cow passed away

The one thing that is immediate and lasting is the photograph is the bond of love the two share with each other. Priceless! :D

Its a really cute picture, then you begin to understand that the cow is rented and will go back to a dairy farm where they take their babies away from them so they give milk. Not a happy life...

You are right that is the shadow side of diary. And when this beautiful cows milk production slow down she will be dragged off to a terrifying and painful slaughter. ---. unless she is one of the rare cows who lives on a farm sanctuary or kept as a pet where she is seen as a beautiful individual and not a production unit. I gave up diary years ago,. more than happy with nut milks instead.

Babies with them or not they give milk you moron. I can't believe the stupidity of people now days. I guess you don't drink milk or eat anything that comes from milk or do you even know the products that come from milk? Those are some of the most cared for and well taken care of animals there are. Get an education before you start showing your stupidity.

And how you know the cow is rented? My friend grew up doing this with cows and she raised the cows herself. She had a very good bond with one it actually, keeping her until the cow passed away of natural causes

Not all diary farms work that way. It's always good to know where your milk comes from and how they treat the animals, though.
