Boss Calls Woman ‘Slutty’ After Seeing Her Linkedin Profile Pic Where She’s Wearing A Basic T-Shirt, Employee Calls Him Out
Women have had to protect themselves against the inappropriate advances of men since the beginning of time, and the internet has not only given them a platform to bring light to these issues (i.e #MeToo) but given men another way to harass them.
Some men don’t understand the kind of fear women carry with them on a daily basis and why they have to arm themselves during simple activities like a jog around the block. Twitter user @sswyers took to the platform to shed some light on the misogyny that leads to fear, by posting an exchange he had with his boss. The superior begins by calling out a woman for her ‘slutty’ LinkedIn profile picture and little by little the employee unpacks the comment through a conversation that will make you cringe.
Part-time podcaster ‘Sawyer’ took to Twitter to share a thread that highlights the misogyny women not only face in real life but online

According to Bloomberg data compiled by crisis consultant, Temin and Co. show that public accusations of corporate misbehavior and harassment have fallen to their lowest level since October 2017, after Harvey Weinstein sparked the #MeToo movement. “There are lots of reasons the pace of allegations has slowed,” Davia Temin, founder of Temin and Co. told the outlet, “The initial outpouring included decades worth of historical revelations, clearing a kind of backlog. The news cycle has also moved on, and companies have gotten more sophisticated in the way they manage both bad behavior and negative PR.”

Over the years a shocking amount of sexual assault cases have asked what the victim was wearing to back up the defense of “she was asking for it.” In 1999 the Denim Day campaign was created, which asks people to wear jeans on a Wednesday in April to raise awareness for these sexual assault survivors. The official campaign website explains it was sparked by the 1999 ruling by the Italian Supreme court in which “a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent.” This might sound antiquated but there have been multiple rulings since that have used the same grounds.
People were horrified by the thread and said he should be reported to HR

The most famous opposition to the ‘asking for it’ argument has been the ‘SlutWalks’ wherein which women gather in scantily clad outfits to protest victim-blaming. The movement began after officer Michael Sanguinetti commented to a group of 10 female students in Toronto: “You know, I think we’re beating around the bush here. I’ve been told I’m not supposed to say this — however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized,” back in January 2011. Since then SlutWalks have been observed around the world and gained celebrity advocates such as Amber Rose.

What a disgusting individual. How do men like that get to think this is okay? Revolting. I've been sexually harrassed numerous times at work despite deliberately dressing like an old woman and covered everything from ankle to neck in the hope it would stop.
These are the same men that think that women can control their periods every month and that we "choose" to have them so we can get out of work....SMH.
Load More Replies...The comments to 10 year old girls are especially sickening. How does anyone think that's okay?
Or the tweet where the neighbor was watching the two girls and his wife thinks it's ok to ask their mom to put up curtains instead of calling the police on her pedo husband? Ew, ew, ew. I mean obviously kids should have curtains or whatever to protect their privacy, but don't frame it like it's their fault your husband is a freak. Horrifying attitude of the wives in both cases.

I was 12 and my mom would approve of my outfits before every service. Basically, my dad told him he was disgusting and a pedophile in front of everyone.
Your dad is awesome! It's horrifying how many of these comments are about grown men sexualizing children.
Load More Replies...This guy needs to have a meeting with HR. He's not only reacting poorly at work, but may be a danger to other people. Seriously. Maybe he needs to be committed. He's saying that she "deserves whatever she gets" just because of how he perceives her appearance. That could be construed as a threat.
It also goes the other way. When I was skinny, I could get a job at the drop of a hat. It didn't matter what my skills were or what had happened with previous jobs..I could always get hired. Now that I'm fat, I can't get people to look at me twice. I have three bachelor's degrees, studying for a fourth...and yet no one will hire me because I'm fat, so I must be dumb, lazy and sick.
@Olga...I'm a diabetic with fibromyalgia. I can no more control my medical condition than you can control your stupidity for making that comment. And why should I have to be skinny to prove my intelligence? Being skinny, fat, blonde, brunette, rich or poor shouldn't matter when it comes to hiring skilled people. What should matter is education, personality, ambition and desire. I've met a lot of well dressed skinny people that were dumb as a post and couldn't wrap their heads around the simplest of tasks. I've also met some poor, unshaven, overweight people that could give Einstein and Nikola Tesla a run for their money. Let's not forget that Howard Hughes used to dress like a bum and thumb rides so he could meet genuine people that treated him with dignity despite his appearance. Perhaps you'd be prettier if you weren't so judgmental.
Load More Replies...I've always been considered unattractive, and now that I'm also fat, I feel I've crossed the line into "ugly". I used to lament it. I'm overlooked. Ignored. Invisible. I've been losing weight due to my new job (moderately active) and I'm afraid that I will start attracting the wrong kind of attention. No one should have to live like this.
STOP PUTTING THE BLAME AND ONUS ON WOMEN. Thank your for coming to my Kate Talk
Men don't hate women who dress slutty - just the ones who won't give them the time of day.
Which they define as "slutty" because in their pathetic view, a woman they find attractive owes them attention.

I will never understand why men do not take responsibility for their role in what is happening. When I was younger, age 22, I work a dress that was called a tank dress back in the 90s. I was larger chested and curvy. I was asked not to wear that dress again without a jacket because of my breast size and distraction to the men. However, a slimmer girl with no chest was able to wear the same dress.

unfortunately some of us are born with features- big symmetrical eyes, pouty lips, a large chest and/or butt- and people instantly think they are sluts, for being born with what society currently believes is desirable and sexual qualities. Even if you try and "cover up", I have helped many a large busted woman find suits for work, and let me tell you... it's not easy. Made me happy I was a flat chest.
Women's fashion has changed all throughout history yet rape and harassment have always existed. No matter what a woman is wearing, her fashion isn't the problem, the would-be rapist/harrasser is.
My mom remembers the first time a grown man really checked me out... I was 12. And I looked 12... She said she wanted to scream at him "She's a child!!" I was oblivious. Makes me cringe thinking about it now though..
I understand that behaviour like this makes women(rightly) shocked and appalled but as a man I feel utterly ashamed of my gender, I just dont understand why (some and pleas dont put us all in the same boat) men feel they can project their inadequacies on women.
Wow, someone had an over-bearing mother or something, what a vile piece of c**p, seriously if that was my friend saying stuff like that i would not be friends with him much longer.Men suck, not all, but a huge chunk and i'm a man. Some of those tweets after are just dark, very dark.
This is why I never use a picture of myself in avatars. I did it once; guys made lewd comments and girls said I must be stupid because of my blonde hair. Other people called me an entitled b*tch because I was white. All it was was a head shot, nothing else. Minimal makeup and hair that was just blow dried, nothing fancy or weird, just straight hair and both genders insulted me for it. It's not just men making assumptions about women.
You have a point here. Enough women are doing a disservice to their gender, too.

Probably the type of guy to see a muslim woman wearing a burka and complain about that too.
This is probably how burqas were created. She has legs - cover them, she has ankles - cover them, she has feet - cover them, she has arms - cover them, she has hands - cover them, she has neck - cover, she has hair - cover, she has face - cover, she has eyes - cover. Does it help preventing rape - NO. Because somewhere under all that there is a woman and that's tempting enough.
So this is where you get HR involved as well as legal and take that s**t out
I understand the girls, the man reaction is unbelievable and unacceptable. But, I can't stop thinking about a thing: what type of brainwash that man should have received for having a reaction like that? I mean, I am a man and I love women, if I see a nice girl I'm happy. That's normal. What type of mental process should lead a person to transform a good sensation (the view of a nice girl) in the stronger rage? What type of pressure society have put on that man, so wildly that he cannot even admit to itself that he likes women? For what I have read, the process could have been this: A like women and says it freely - X tell A to stop because is not good doing it, maybe calling he misogynyst - A stop to make pure appreciation on women, but starts to feel bad because he is choking a simple human tendency. So A starts growing a wild rage against his own good feelings that, at the end, A transforms in a wild rage against what he make feel good. I only think that we all need more education.
Agree with the last sentence. It is normal to appreciate seeing a person that is appealing to you but you keep that INSIDE your head. Most women get fed up with catcalling and comments on their appearance and should have the right to tell men to stop it. I struggle with the idea that society telling a man to keep his comments about an attractive woman to themselves leads to this kind of rage. I don't doubt this man has serious problems but if he's been bent out of shape by someone telling him to keep his comments to himself then there is something else wrong going on.
Load More Replies...I am truly repulsed at the comments about the very clearly pedo men learing at children and the moms thinking it was the kids fault!?!?
Simple psychology, due to women's liberation, and the advent of a' free love' society means: The attractive girl, no matter what she wears, is attractive. Chances are she is a modern women, that more likely than not has had and will have sex before marriage. She is free to choose whom to have sex with, and guess what? It ain't you buddy! So she picks someone that is not you, so you know she has sex, she just does not want to have it with you. Why not? Am I not attractive, monied, funny enough? Guess not! Instead of hating on the girl, maybe you need to up your game? So the man in pursuit of said hot girl, knows that she likes men, she just does not like you, but, because you are an emotional child, you want to degrade her in any way you can, this makes you feel big and powerful in your head, and somehow validates your nasty remarks. This reminds me of a very old joke. What is the difference between a b***h and a s**t? A b***h is a s**t that will F your friends but not you.
At my old work if one of the men saw a woman with a large chest in the waiting room they had a code word they would use to eachother to go out and ogle her...they used this code word so that myself or the other women at work wouldn't find out what pigs they were..but I found out from one of the decent men I worked with.
Hope you reported them and that it got stopped. Disgusting and immature behaviour.

Talked often about how good blowjobs were. And this vice president was a woman! I'm female working in a male dominated field and although some men have been pigs, I find a lot of women to be far worse.
It's really horrible when women try to out-men the men. They think if they act like 'one of the boys' they will be better accepted by their male peers. It's sad they don't see it doesn't work that way. I have had men tell me they actually have the least respect for those kinds of women (as much as men like that can have respect for any woman). They would joke with them and flirt with them, and then turn around and call them horrible things behind their backs.

Only job when was good to be pretty with bog boobs was when i was seller... i was wearing uniform and customers were asking me to go out. Itshard to think all men are not same, cause i never met someone different. All pigs
I honestly don’t think there is anything women can do to prevent harassment from some individuals. You could go outside in a floor length garbage sack and get told it’s a “sexy outfit.” Some people are just creeps. It’s best to call them out or report them (but only if you feel safe doing so).
This s**t makes me so angry. Especially reading the replies to this post. It seems like people are getting angry at these women because the perverts that they work with are getting distracted? Or women are angry at other women because their husbands are perverted? This is a huge problem in our society, and it makes me want to throw up. If I ever got treated this way, I would (or I like to think that I would) punch them in the effing face.
Ugh. People like this are disgusting. Just because a someone looks attractive does not mean they are "slutty". People should be allowed to care about their appearance without being harassed about it.
Any man who can look at the photo of a woman in a tshirt and and thinks that is slutty has something wrong with him. I wish that men would realize that women are not objects and shouldn't be treated that way. Also, the women who blame other women for the actions of the men are sad as well.
This is why i like to cover up. Its because there arw sick men like this.
Incel baby is offended, decides to p**s in pool like child. How dare the woman have opinions on being treated like object! Go live in cave where you belong, incel baby.

Load More Replies...The picture on the article clearly states "not the actual photo", but nice casual misogyny regardless
