Hi, I'm from Hungary. Spiriva inhaler is HUF 8K here, which is like $27, if you go to the pharmacy from the street, w/o any insurance, prescription or anything else that could give you a discount. If you have, then it's like $3.3. Remember: in Hungary, not in richest country of the World. I really don't understand US people how you don't go to the streets and burn the whole system down to hell.

This is shocking, I can't even imagine. I have asthma and so does my son. I've got an inhaler in my bag and one at home. My son has one at home, one in the classes and one in his school bag, and he has a spacer for each inhaler. I think all up it cost around $100, Australia.

Did you mean Spiriva? In Spain, Spiriva Respimat (18 mcg; inhalator+30 capsules) is €40. And that price only if you have no Social Security/private or mutual insurance. You can find prices for drugs approved in Spain in nomenclator.org

Right? Inhalers are hella expensive, as are Epipens. If you don't have insurance, they are impossible to afford for the average person.

Many Drs get kickbacks for prescring certain drugs. I hope you got a prescription for something else. I had great ins. but my daughter could only tolerate Albuterol and Zyrtec for a life threatening condition. Even though there were "better" drugs.

I feel you...I was prescribed Lovinox as a blood thinner. Need to have 2 injections daily or I could die. A one month supply after a price break from the manufacturer and payment from my insurance is $7,000.00 or the equivalent of 7 months take home pay. Had to quit my job that I loved to get Medicaid to be able to pay for drugs. Now I have to live as a resource suck on my aging parents. I can attest to the fact that Social services considers anything over $1,234.00 a month for a single person as too much to qualify. Average cost of rent here is &1,200.00 for a studio apartment. Necessary expenses are not accounted for.

Make sure the doctor knows!! That's prescribed for severe asthma. You need it. I'm so sorry. Try to find a rebate program or assistance in your area. The insurance company refuses it, too, anyway. You have to get the doc to write a special form out to make them do it. It's disgusting.

somewhat off topic but find a 340b provider that will help you get inahlers and insulin for around 10-15 dollars. no insurance required

A friend of mine uses inhalers that cost the same. She's been able to get samples from her doctor (the salesperson leaves them). It helps a lot.

I've worked in pharmacy for 22 years, 13 of that as primary pharmacy technician. The stories I could tell. The U.S. healthcare system is unsustainable. How angry are you after seeing how much less it is in other countries?

If you are in the US try checking if GoodRX is available on your state. I got my prescription and inhaler for less than $50.

I stopped using my prescribed inhalers when the price got to over $300 a month. That was back in the 1990s. I see the price now is over $800 for a month of doses.

I get a month's worth of pills. With no insurance they're $15,500!! Between Medicare, supplemental insurance and a few grants, I luckily pay 0. Don't know how many months I have to take them. It depends on blood tests.

Here in Italy if you would have been an EU citizen you would have got it for free. We are a bit of a mess of a Country and have huge political problems but we have FREE healthcare. You're sick? You're covered, the important is that you're either an Italian Citizen or an EU Citizen.

I'd definitely talk to your Dr about alternatives because that's ridiculous.

Contact the pharmaceutical company. Many have programs for free or low price medications for those who can't afford them
