Blindfolded Strangers Kiss In Social Experiment Exploring Love At First Kiss

In a thrilling social experiment, Jordan Oram, a cinematographer in Toronto, asked 8 blindfolded strangers to kiss each other after a brief introduction. The sparks really fly in the video he filmed of their sweet and awkward interactions before they take “the plunge.”

Experiments similar to this one, which had brought strangers together to share a kiss, had been done before. However, as Oram explains in his video, “there had been nothing that really showed the reason why people were kissing… The reason behind the kiss: what if you meet the person you fell in love with from the first kiss? What if it was like your first kiss? What if you met someone, you kissed them, and then you introduced yourself? And then you built chemistry from that.”

The most interesting aspect is that they will get so passionate about their kissing while they can't see each other but when they finally do, they become so reserved again. This indicates that we learn to distance ourselves from people that we meet but we wouldn't have the same inhibitions if we couldn't see them. Very odd and I don't know why that is. Any ideas?

i don't know why, but this reminds me of how uninhibited people get on social media, especially when hidden behind a nickname... also, while they cannot see each other their imagination can run wild, but then once they remove the blindfold, they probably don't find what they expected... then getting to know the actual person in order to justify the chemistry might become crucial ! :D

Blindfolding in itself makes us behave and feel differently. I'm curious what would happen if only one of them were blindfolded, him/her knowing that the other is not.

It seems they didn't know they'd see each other afterwards, since they didn't know they would kiss. I wonder if anonymity made it easier to be less physically inhibited.
