Some people couldn't care less about their birthmarks or their placings, but for some, it is a real self-esteem problem. However, with their unique tattoo designs, these artists helped people cover their unattractive markings and to regain some much-needed confidence, showing that imperfections - embellished with cover up tattoos or not - are what make us beautiful.
Yet the tattooists did not only cover the birthmarks - they worked to incorporate them as a vital part of the tattoo design; whether it be a basketball, part of a flower, or a map of an imaginary world! There's really no end to the imagination with these cover up tattoo ideas.

Creative, though unless you're already someone interested in having tattoos, then potentially excessive and/or unnecessary. Birthmarks may change with age. There is a modest risk of the tattoos not quite making sense over time depending on the design. There is also the risk of dark tattoos hiding skin issues, especially start of skin cancer. It is a trade-off.
Every one of these is outstanding, creative and original. No one has to cover up their marks/scars but if you want to, these are great.
I don't get why there's so much hate against birthmarks. I have a big coffee and latte birthmark that grows on my arm and back, and I love it! It's my natural tatoo!
You're telling me you've never been embarrassed in front of a guy or girl you really dig to have that ugly mark on you? I don't believe you.
Load More Replies...Some of these initially tiny marks, turned into huge things, draw dramatically more attention and now ya have to explain the tattoo to everyone.

These are creative and interesting. There's nothing wrong with having a birthmark though!
No, not everyone does. Moles are not birthmarks, per se...unless you were born with them. I have a few. My granddaughter was born with a mole just over her right ear, now you cannot see it because of her hair. Will probably never be cancerous, either. If you had one, you would know, I think.

Cool idea, though I must admit I was always told that any kind of intervention with certain kinds of birthmarks (e.g. moles) other than surgical removal increased the chances of abnormal cells growing. Is that just a myth?
Those of you turning moles into tattoos, you do realize moles can become cancerous, right? Better to just have them removed then tattooed even if your doctor doesn't want to yet. Find a doctor who films certain procedures for YouTube. Bet they'd remove the moles for free in exchange for you being filmed.
Beautiful. Sadly, I have my birthmark under my right eye, and then three more I barely remember about.
