It’s the kind of realization that can really make your blood boil. And it certainly did for these Redditors, who didn’t hold back as they shared some of society’s biggest double standards in a recent thread.

I would rather we just actually enforce the separation of church and state. Religious institutions should not be involved in politics. And the government should not pass laws that are particular to one religious view point (like making abortion illegal).

Urgh - so true. My husband takes the kids out to a cafe and grabs a few groceries and gets all the comments from passers by about what a what an amazing involved Dad he is (which he is, but that’s not the point) and how nice he is “giving mum a break” (I’m at home doing 4 loads of laundry and mowing the lawn). Meanwhile, I take the kids grocery shopping more times than I can count and I get nothing, maybe the occaisional “well, you’ve got your hands full” or sometimes even negatives “Don’t let them touch anything in the shop, please” , “ugh, mothers taking up all the space with their prams…”. I would love to be told I am doing a good job, too.

In the same vein, all men benefit from violence against women and misogyny. You might be one of those who engage in such behavior, in which case, f**k off and die please. But guys who don't do that also benefit because women get suppressed meaning there is naturally more opportunity for them. Or you just get credit for not being like those a******s. Just showing a basic human amount of decency automatically makes you "one of the good ones". It's f****d up.

The part of the problem that should be fixed isn’t that men are being praised for their efforts, but that women are not. The world could stand for more praise and recognition of what people do, and the bulk of what’s missing is owed to women.

Dad ohh boy he fit the stereotype but whenever mom asked him to he would do it. So I think he jusy did not have a teacher... like mom did with us. Now I live independently and do all sorts of things any grown man or woman need to do like cooking ,maintenance cleaning repairs etc!

Vilifying an entire race and gender. You can be racist to white people, especially white men. But it cannot be the opposite.

CNN can release a news article called “There’s Nothing Scarier Than Angry White Men”. If you replaced “white men” with “black people”, there would be public outrage and much consequence.
    https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/11/20/us/angry-white-men-trials-blake-cec

Black people can openly say “I don’t like white people” and it’s acceptable. A white person cannot say that about their own race without termination from their job, being deplatformed and deemed a racist. I think both of these attitudes towards one another are disgusting. I don’t feel that way about a race. It’s bothersome that someone would judge me just because of my skin color too.

Progress on race issues begins when everyone has the same social behaviors and mutual respect. Not when one gets a special license to be hateful and the other is supposed to put up with it. Most things deemed “racist” are not about race anyway, it’s tribalism. A very natural thing for all of us.

People with cultural similarities will always predominately flock together. Race is the first and most obvious commonality that make make a group of people flock together. In a diverse room, Christian’s will naturally flock together, blacks will flock together, gays will flock together and so on.

Everyone, without exception or even admission, is most comfortable with people that are most like them from physical appearance to politics, interests, and beliefs. There’s countless studies on it. Instead of understanding and respecting the human condition, we normalize blaming and vilifying white people because they are the majority in the proverbial room.  .
