Life isn’t always fair, no matter how much we wish it could be. Sure, there are times when justice prevails and good triumphs, but far too often, the scales seem hopelessly tipped.
It’s the kind of realization that can really make your blood boil. And it certainly did for these Redditors, who didn’t hold back as they shared some of society’s biggest double standards in a recent thread.

I would rather we just actually enforce the separation of church and state. Religious institutions should not be involved in politics. And the government should not pass laws that are particular to one religious view point (like making abortion illegal).

Exactly. I had a bf with OCD. He would hold his poop in for days at a time, because when he pooped, everything in the bathroom got cleaned. Including taking down the shower curtin, washing the rugs, throwing out the toilet paper (I made him only take a little in with him at a time), basically washing EVERYTHING washable and throwing out anything that wasn't. Cleaning EVERY surface in the bathroom, including the walls. It was a nightmare for him, and anyone who lived with him.

Friends/family think they're very accepting of mental illness (I'm bipolar II), but it's a different story when they actually have to deal w/ the real ugly symptoms, even 30 yrs after my diagnosis. Believe me, I know my bipolar can be a nightmare to deal w/, & I understand their frustration. It's the fact that they still seem surprised by how messy this illness is & why it can't just be "fixed". I take my meds, see my therapist, read up on the subject constantly, do whatever I can to mitigate the effects on those around me, but there are times when it's out of my control, & THAT'S when people get angry with me for having a chemical imbalance that isn't fixable. Perfectly fine when I'm bipolar & asymptomatic, but as soon as the symptoms start, it's like, "How dare you act bipolar??"

Vilifying an entire race and gender. You can be racist to white people, especially white men. But it cannot be the opposite.
CNN can release a news article called “There’s Nothing Scarier Than Angry White Men”. If you replaced “white men” with “black people”, there would be public outrage and much consequence.

Black people can openly say “I don’t like white people” and it’s acceptable. A white person cannot say that about their own race without termination from their job, being deplatformed and deemed a racist. I think both of these attitudes towards one another are disgusting. I don’t feel that way about a race. It’s bothersome that someone would judge me just because of my skin color too.
Progress on race issues begins when everyone has the same social behaviors and mutual respect. Not when one gets a special license to be hateful and the other is supposed to put up with it. Most things deemed “racist” are not about race anyway, it’s tribalism. A very natural thing for all of us.
People with cultural similarities will always predominately flock together. Race is the first and most obvious commonality that make make a group of people flock together. In a diverse room, Christian’s will naturally flock together, blacks will flock together, gays will flock together and so on.
Everyone, without exception or even admission, is most comfortable with people that are most like them from physical appearance to politics, interests, and beliefs. There’s countless studies on it. Instead of understanding and respecting the human condition, we normalize blaming and vilifying white people because they are the majority in the proverbial room. .

I am 60 years old. I have tried MANY churches in my life and finally gave up. There has not been one church in all those years where I did not feel or hear judgmental attitudes toward me. I suffer from clinical depression and PTSD from childhood and an abusive marriage. I am finished with church. I can worship on my own.

In the US, justice for the rich/celebrities/politicians vs the rest of the population. A prime example that comes to mind is how Tyreek Hill was given a speeding ticket for going 90 in a 30. The he has the audacity to demand the cop be fired. A regular person in that situation would have been arrested for reckless endangerment and their car impounded.

Height discrimination. It is OK to call me short, midget, smurf, or to make jokes about my height like setting up a milk crate for me to stand on. Girls won't date me because I am not 6 foot. I’ve dated people way taller, way shorter and around the same height as me and being more attracted versus less attracted because of their height never even crossed my mind. The fact that people try to seem charitable and act like they care about the wellbeing of unhoused people when on social media and in general discussions... but when the government actually allots a sizable amount of funds to procure housing for the unhoused, they can never seem to use it because every neighborhood they annouce plans for begins to protest the placement of housing on their side of the community.

A person who walks up to a kid in a park, grabs them by the throat, and lifts them off the ground and strangles them is going to jail for a long long time. But a father or mother doing the same might lose custody or be forced into counselling, if they're white. Someone gets drunk and starts throwing heavy s**t at a person holding a baby, then starts kicking and slashing at them with a broken bottle is going to jail, but a family member does it and the cops make them spend the night in the drunk tank, then send them home in the morning. These are things I've personally experienced. If it's a family member the judge makes them super pinky promise not to do it again and sends them off with no consequence. But if it were a stranger, they'd get years in jail. This world has no justice for abusers
