“Balance” An Intimate Portrait Of A Dandelion – A Mindfulness Photo Series I Created During Lockdown.
I am always striving to find new and artistic images to capture, I also like my work to be more than just an image. I enjoy producing depth to my photographs that evoke an emotion or have some connection to the viewer.
During the U.K. Covid-19 lockdown, I decided to use my time to devise a photo series that detached from all the chaos and uncertainty of the world. I really wanted to create imagery that complimented mindfulness, and the feeling of grounding oneself to find an inner peace and tranquility using the art of nature.
Fortunately, our garden is an abundance of colour with a variety of flowers. However, whilst pulling up some weeds, it was the common dandelion that grasped my attention and the delicate structure of the silky pappi.
I decided to title the photo series “Balance,” because life itself is a fine balance made up of varying factors. In a world that is moving so rapidly, it is hard to sometimes take a moment to regain focus. With this in mind, I wanted my images to be meaningful and relaxing to look at, therefore, creating a sense of stillness and serenity.
