People Are In Tears At The Way This Wife Who Hasn’t Seen ‘Infinity War’ Names The Characters
The movie Avengers: Infinity War premiered on the 23rd of April, 2018 and it has already become the 14th highest-grossing film of all time. But if you aren’t a Marvel fan, you probably need to do some catching up to fully enjoy the release. To see how well her wife, Brenda, knows her superheroes, Gabrielle Regan-Waters asked her to name Infinity War characters. However, it’s worth mentioning that the examinee had only seen two Marvel films before taking up the challenge (Captain America and Thor 2: The Dark World). The results turned out to be so bad, they’re actually good. In a hilarious kind of way.
“I’ve seen all Marvel Cinematic Universe films and am certainly more familiar with the characters than she is,” Regan-Waters told Bored Panda. “But I’m not a part of the fandom. I just enjoy the films when they come out.”
“She saw a trailer for Infinity War and was confused by all the different characters. She was vaguely familiar with some of them just due to pop culture osmosis so I wondered how many of them she actually knew.”
Earth’s No. 1 team made its debut in a comic book in 1963 and since then it has had a lot of recruits, many of whom appeared in the latest movie. Gabrielle uploaded her wife’s attempt to name them to Twitter, and it quickly went viral, accumulating over 133K likes and 56K retweets.
However, Gabrielle doubts if this will make Brenda take a bigger interest in Marvel. “She watched Captain America because she likes Chris Evans but she’s not even entirely sure why she saw Thor 2 in theatres back in 2013. Like I said, I’m only a casual fan anyway, so I’m not going to push her into something she won’t enjoy. She’ll remain just as uninformed as she is now, unless Marvel somehow decides to have a film about the ‘War Maiden’ family. She loves romance — especially lesbian romance!”

Same. My mom and I watched IW on cinema and she keep firing quetion. "Oh is he an ally? Why did he kick his ally? Who's the bad guy? Wait are they friends? Who is she? Are they dating? And so on.. In the end i watched it again alone because i miss the scene since i keep explaining stuff to my mom... 😭

She wasn't wrong on Nick Fury though: 1- He was re-designed to look like Samuel L Jackson starting in the comics. and 2- Whatever character he plays, Sam Jackson is always Sam Jackson!!

I've seen them all but there's a handful of these I'd fail at, too. Spiderman's buddy. I feel like I should know "Snail Girl" but I don't. Same with "regular guy". Took me a while to remember Nebula. And did T'Challa's general ever get called by her name?? I've seen Black Panther twice, most recently two days ago, but... it escapes me if she did. I am *super* bad at names though, so it's probably not the movie's fault.

If you're talking about "War Maiden" Her name is Okoye. Also, "Snail Girl" is Mantis, and "Regular Guy" is Wong from Dr. Strange, and he was in the opening scenes of Infinity War.

To be honest, my boyfriend is the marvel fan. I've only seen both Guardians of the Galaxy movies with him. I must admit, I was asking my boyfriend the same question about " Just a regular guy who gets caught in the crossfire." "Um, is this guy a superhero I'm not familiar with?"

My 4 yo son gave new names to them as well. In my language.. Groot = Belalang Kayu (Wooden Grasshopper) Black Widow = Ironman Kakak (Iron man's sister) Thanos = Uncle Gemuk (Fat Uncle) Black Panther = Raksasa Kucing (Giant Cat)

I took my sixty something year old mom to see this too. She’s never read a comic book in her life, knows nothing about superheroes but she did recognize at least three people: Black Panther, The Hulk, and Spiderman. She still had a good time, and was actually mad about the ending.
