I Photograph Abandoned Buildings While Travelling Across Europe (Part 2)

During the last four years, I have been photographing abandoned places across the world for my project “Ask the Dust”. I am now very proud to present my work to you; feel free to create your own stories on what’s hidden behind these images.

Come with me in an epic journey through ruins from the genteel parlours of long departed haute-bourgeoisie families to the sparse industrial beauty of mid-century factories as they quietly rust away. As in a walking day dream, we are absorbed, picture after picture, into a wordless reverie.

So what should we ask the dust ? Let these images help you decide…

You can look through the Part 1 of the series here.

I can't help but to imagine all the people who got to see those beautiful places in their original state. And also how full of stories they seem now. Walking through those halls and rooms must be incredible.

Some of these look like dangerous places to visit, due to their crumbling state. These are brave shots!

These buildings once were THE places to be, now they are in ruin...Nothing is forever. Beautiful architecture though.

Just as stunning as the last post. The lost and forgotten beauty of some places is sometimes painful to watch. Some of these must have been so full of life and, now, they're just abandoned.

Beautifully artistic! How sad that some of these amazing places have fallen into disrepair...

Whenever I look at pictures like these, I immediately start thinking about renovating it and combining different exterior and interior design traits to turn it into residencies. I can spend hours fantasizing about it

These pictures were taken by many different people. The car graveyard was in Wales, for example. The one with sand from Namibia...

These pictures just show that there's still beauty in ruined places. I really love the photos. Thanks for sharing :)

These are all beautiful yet forgotten. They don't deserve to be in such a state .

I think the one of the synagogue is in Budapest, there is an abandoned synagogue just behind the main synagogue and it just broke my heart

Very very cool!! It's shocking the obvious splendor some of these places must have been in their glory days. Makes me wonder if it is somewhere affected by nuclear fallout and and to be abandoned

thanks to G W Bush : Lt. General Michael Flynn, the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency who came up through intelligence positions in Iraq and Afghanistan, says that the George W. Bush administration's Iraq war was a tremendous blunder that helped to create the self-proclaimed Islamic State, or ISIS.

Why would you write in the title that those pictures are of Europe when the third one (showing a room full of sand) was taken in Namibia? You said it yourself in a Huff Post article: http://quebec.huffingtonpost.ca/romain-veillon/kolmanskop-les-sables-du-temps_b_5551479.html
