Just a day ago, I didn't know there was such a term as 'disneyfication'. But apparently, sociologists have been using it since 1959 to describe the commercial transformation of a society to resemble the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, based on rapid Western-style globalization and consumerist lifestyles.
Dutch illustrator Isa Bredt, however, gave it another meaning. In Bredt's vocabulary, 'disneyfication' is a mode of transport. One that gets animals into the animation world. Through her project Pet Disneyfication, the 22-year-old artist transforms people's pet photos into illustrations a-la Disney style, and they're spot on. The facial features, the expressions; all of the critters in Bredt's series look like the stars of the next Walt Disney movie!

Poor little soul. Hopefully life will compensate a thousand times for the loss.💖
Bredt has been in love with drawing since she was very young, but only started considering it as a career at the end of high school. These thoughts led her to study illustration and animation but Bredt quit her program during the third year to pursue pet portrait work.
"Pet disneyfications is something I did very sporadically in my free time for about 5 years," Bredt told Bored Panda. "I started because I was and still am a big fan of both drawing animals and the old Disney style."
I love seeing Pit Bulls smile - it breaks all the stupid stereotypes.
I don't see a pitbull I see a happy soul looking happily at their master there for pitties are not mean just misunderstood

Aww this is cute! I love pit bulls, I really do but I’m just a bit scared of them after getting attacked. I know it’s not their fault, I know it’s DNA but I can’t help but be scared
I would love this picture and put frame into my bedroom. Love to buy one Beautiful
I love the touch of the eyelashes. This one is only missing hearts in the eyes.
However, the Tilburg-based artist pointed out that she is in no way a Disney employee. "I am just a very big fan. The Lion King is my all time favorite movie, I used to watch it daily as a child. I adore the old animal movies; Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, the Aristocats."
She started the pet disneyfications on Reddit. "There was a subreddit where you could offer free art to people. I wanted to practice the Disney style, so I offered free drawings for people who would send me pictures of their pets."
That was in 2014 when Bredt was 16. "I did this a few times and people really enjoyed it, though I wasn't very good yet," she explained. "Then, last summer, I decided to take on commissions as a summer job because I didn't want to work in the food service industry again, and it went well enough that I decided to create an Instagram and do the commissions as a side job."
After that, the project grew pretty quickly. Eventually, Bredt started drawing shelter pets too. She hopes her portraits will help the animals find their forever homes, and she's glad she's able to use her platform for something good.
'Did u just call me Grumpy Cat!?' 'Oh, you'll be sorry u weak human!'
I need to find this artist and commission her artwork of some of the boxer dogs my parents have had over 60 years of marriage! Would make a wonderful present! <3
They are on Instagram. I'm wanting to say Pet Disneyfication is the name.

Such beautiful artworks, and the pets are even cuter! I feel bad for some of them but I'm mostly happy that they are okay now... This was good to look at before bed to forget about the whole protests and deaths going on right now :) I feel better knowing that these pets are probably happy.
simply beautiful and to highlight animals that need to be adopted is very touching
I’d love her to do work for me and the rescue I volunteer for!
Load More Replies...I would like to see a short or even a full length movie with the animals all being not quite perfect looking like so many of these lovely works. It could show how beautiful the love of these animals are towards the humans who love them back.
Sitting here alone in my apartment with the goofiest grin on my face looking at these.
Aww good boys/girls!! So cute and I want to adopt all of the “special needs” ones!!
My good friend fosters and rehabs stray and abandoned dogs. I'd really love to be able to have a few of her current (or future) doggos drawn as a gift and reminder of what an awsome thing she is doing. She keeps 55 at one time. And I don't hunk she has ever had any stay longer than a month they get adopted so quickly.
I wish I could have one done that integrates pictures of my furbaby that passed in October 2019 and the one we adopted January 2020. They never met but are soul sisters.
awww... what makes it awesome is how most of the pets are disabled... just lovely
Wow! This is amazing. I'd love to have this done with a picture of my sweet pitbull.
Those are lovely. And it was fun seeing some of the animals I've seen on social media.
