Now that my little girl is two years old, her interest in all things art has skyrocketed, especially when she sees me painting. As she gets older I look forward to collaborating with her on many projects, but until then I’ve decided to see what I can create with some of her many sketches.
As all of our collaborations start, my two year old creates her own sketch with an ink pen which I then use to turn into a watercolor painting. The sketch is completely her own with no instruction given from me, I simply use her creativity to inspire me to create a painting.
I try to work quickly and let imagination and play take root into the painting rather than taking it to seriously, this way I can encourage Eve’s contribution without making it to “grownup.” As Pablo Picasso said it can take “but a lifetime to paint like a child.” I feel so blessed that my daughter can remind me once again what it is to paint like a child by letting me see through her eyes.

To be able to draw something out of scribbles is amazing! I admire your art work! <3
Awesome! I have 2 kids that are now 14 & 11. I have alot of their old drawings. I love your idea, but it got me thinking....
What kind of felt pen is she using? It's obviously not permanent... I tried some of my daughter's drawings with sharpies--too unforgiving!
not all artists have an inspiration, but you got something special. someone who knows art as mush as you do! Salute to you & the helpers :)
LOVE IT!! I'm a professional artist and this is how I start every painting I do! I wish I'd thought of this when my daughter was little!
Wonderful...Mom is both talented and a great example for her daughter.
So creative & beautiful! The little one's going to have her mind blown someday, looking back at these special "collaborations" :)
If I could draw I would love to do this with my kids :) such a cool mom!
There's a boundary issue here. Mom exploits daughter's expressions of art, takes over and turns them into Mommy's (better) art. Sad.
this is reeeally really cool!!! I did something a lot like this with my mom... I put purple finger paints behind a poppy she drew ;D
I am so very inspired by this and cannot wait to try this with my little budding artists ages 2 and 4
Your views are very clear,I loved your work.Keep it up!! God bless you!!!
That is the coolest idea! What a wonderful way to encourage a child's creativity while giving bonding opportunities! Amazing!
I love it. There is always so much creativity into children art. Luckily some people ca see it.
Beautiful art and beautiful process. The fact that you're inspiration for these pieces comes from your own daughter's work is precious.
Beautiful, inspired and whimsical. Major kudos to both you and your little girl :)

Потрясающий талант у мамочки! Ни каждому дано видеть поразительные картины в хаотичных штрихах маленького ребенка.Браво!
I love this! What a fantastic way to encourage a childs sense of creativity.this mother has given her child a wonderful gift!
Very nice! Her daughter rust love to see creations such as these come out of her drawings!
This is awesome work! I love the combination. I love how you and your child made these interesting and inspiring art . I'm inspired, TQ!
Awesome! I have kept a lot of my kids drawings, who are now 14&11. I wonder if I had them add to their old drawings what they would come up?
I think she has totally ruined the creativity and intuitive aspects of this little girls experience. She is teaching her daughter that good art has to represent something - be something. That is where the education system really fails young people in art. When I teach students applying to art college I generally have to unlearn many of things that they get taught are right in school and how to express and enjoy themselves whilst creating. Drawing can be about markmaking, feelings, responses, emotions and by prettifying them into 'pictures' this is devalued. Julie Read, Portfolio Oomph.
I think it's awesome when we can feed the artist in our kids. From drawing to music to whatever their passion is. Way to go Mom.
Are you near Grand Rapids, MI? I think that this would go over VERY well at ArtPrize. This is just awesome. http://www.artprize.org/
Hello James, Unfortunately we live in Canada so it would be a bit too far, however thank you for thinking of us!
