Hello bored pandas!
My name is Charlotte, I am a performer and theatre maker who models for Emma Fay, a Leicestershire artist who uses the human body as a canvas to create illusion artwork.
And we have a question for you!… With the newest definition of ‘Snowflake’ appearing top on Google search, seemingly unsympathetic media coverage, Sun hotlines and safe zones… we’re wondering, are you seeing Snowflakes??
We’ve been really interested in the topic of language and perceptions and ended up discussing how generations refer to each other, how the term Snowflake is now referred to in politics, particularly in the opposing polarities of left and right. And also how, personally, we notice media use appears to be affecting our views of one another.
Funnily enough we hadn’t intended on making this piece of work to explore these ideas, the Snowflake was originally painted for a simple Christmas thank you artwork for Emma’s print shop customers, but it led to some very interesting conversations, and we now would love to explore further other people’s views on this often ironically fiery word!
Emma’s artworks ‘Generation’ and ‘Snowflake’ have now become part of a series of artworks within ‘Epoch’ (exploring ideas on perception, polarities and empathy.) We hope you find this just as interesting a subject!
We’d also like to say a big thank you to the incredible Merlin Cadogan (merlincadogan.com) for becoming a can of worms for ‘Brexit’ and ‘Deal’! And Georgina, James and Ludwik for their parts in the Kathe Kollwitz inspired ‘People Divided.’
