Anna Frankl-Duval Emerges A Feminist Rebel In New Indie Action-Thriller
If you think times are tough in America right now, it could definitely be worse. Imagine if it turned into a dystopian society where modern reforms are actually brutal changes aimed at removing women from positions of power. What would you do?
The action-packed short film thriller “The Resistance” sets these circumstances into motion. Set in the not-so-distant future, the film stars Anna Frankl-Duval and Lenore Marks as Chloe and Emma, best friends leading a rebellion to overthrow the totalitarian authority. When their plan is thwarted by the tyrannical leadership, these underground revolutionists must find another way to stop The Regime before it’s too late.
Directed by Natasha Straley and written Lenore Marks, the film has gained momentum on the festival circuit screening at the Portland Film Festival, Berkshire Film Festival, Chelsea Film Festival, San Jose International Film Festival, Reading Film Festival, and Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.
Stepping up as the fiercely loyal rebel Chloe is actress Anna Frankl-Duval, who brings a unique strength to the role. When asked about the character, this proud feminist commented “Chole is direct, honest and unafraid to stand up for what she believes in – she’s a total badass, how could I not love playing her? On top of that, this project was powered by a team of insanely talented and creative women. It was such a supportive set to work on. ‘The Resistance’ is one of the most empowering and inspiring experiences of my career so far.”
As a Londoner now living in New York, Anna wrote, produced and starred in the indie short If Only, earning a Best Actress nomination at the Festival of Cinema NYC; and starred in the FunnyOrDie favorite American Deportation. A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, her stage credits include How Will I Know by German Munoz at London’s White Bear Theatre and Brighton Fringe Festival; Definitely by Vikki Stone at Edinburgh Fringe Festival; and Agamemnon: Redux by Robert Auletta at LAB at the Roger Smith Hotel.
