In 2015, there were rumours circulating about an Animorphs movie. What? A movie?! I was so excited about this possibility!

I literally grew up with the characters, I was the same age as their in-book ages from 1996 to 2001. It was a great period of time in my life and I wanted to do some production-worthy artwork in order to do this series justice!

Sadly, the Animorphs author couple, KA Applegate and Michael Grant, confirmed that there wasn’t a movie in the works. Bummer! Well, I still wanted to keep making a few pieces and who knows… Wouldn’t it be something if there were an Animorphs movie one day?

The Animorphs story centred around five human kids getting the power to morph into any animal they touched while fighting an alien race, the Yeerks, keeping them from taking over Earth. One of the team members is Ax, a centaur-like alien called an Andalite who had to learn about human customs.

Another alien race from the series were the Hork Bajir. Despite their appearance, they’re actually peaceful herbivores. The Yeerks took over the species by infesting their brains and controlling their every movement, turning the species into fearsome shock troops.

The Yeerks were ‘evil’ and the Andalites and Animorphs were ‘good’, though the lines between good and evil were often blurred.

Rachel’s favourite morph is the grizzly bear.

Tobias got trapped in morph as a red tailed hawk and actually shares a special bond with the Andalite alien Ax.
