Artist Reveals What Animals Would Say If They Could Talk (30 New Pics)
Interview With ArtistJimmy Craig is back on Bored Panda once again with his humorous and unique comics called "They Can Talk." Jimmy has been featured here many times (part one, part two, part three) and has always managed to make the viewers laugh, relate, and see their own pets in the comics.
Jimmy creates funny illustrations showing what would happen if animals started talking. His unique style and sense of humor are what make these comics stand out from the rest. Jimmy also is very good at adding an unexpected twist to his illustrations and it seems like his creativity knows no bounds. Although he mostly draws cats and dogs, he doesn't forget other critters like birds, bugs, fish, and reptiles. So even the exotic pet owners will find something about their own family member!

Ooh a chocolate on my pillow, how thoughtf...dammit kitty, it's not my fault you have a local bully tom cat in the neighbourhood (true story, after several vet trips she became an indoor kitty, til they moved away again. All is well again)
Most of us have probably looked at our pets at one point or another and wondered: What is going on in their head? Food, cuddles, walks, and playtime, probably. But wouldn't it be fun to actually hear them talk? See what their voices sound like, what profound and deep information they would give us? What their favorite type of cheese is? Perhaps these comics will inspire you and give you some ideas on what your animals are actually thinking.
We asked Jimmy what inspires him to continue to create these comics after so many years. He told us: "I enjoy making comics and my process hasn't changed since it started, just the art has evolved a bit." He told us that being featured on Bored Panda so many times helped him gain some exposure, especially new readers.
Animals have many ways of communicating. Some use sounds: howls, chirping, and other auditory senses. Some use colors, patterns, scents, and many use body language. Humans are one of the only creatures on this planet that have a complex understanding of language. It's important to understand this, because dogs, for example, mainly use body language when communicating. So if you have a dog, it's very good to learn what your dog is trying to say with his movements, even if he's not using words.
Jimmy told us more about how his style has evolved and changed throughout his drawing career: "I like to think that the art has improved over the years. I think doing something consistently naturally leads to getting better at it."
The artist also shared how his sense of humor and the content of his creation has changed: "I think the content of the comics has had to evolve because I used up low-hanging-fruit ideas early on."
There are many comics here on Bored Panda, so if you want to see some, here are a few that you might be interested in: first off, sweet comics by Luong Thuy show what being in a relationship is like. If you're not interested in relationship comics, maybe you'll be interested in funny comics by StrangeTrek for people who like horror and pop culture. Or maybe positive and relatable animal comics that make you smile are more your cup of tea.
Jimmy told us he has two cats and they are the ones who inspire him with new ideas for his animal comics: "They're both so different, so I think between the two of them I can make jokes that relate to a wide range of cat owners."
The artist shared what inspired these comics in the first place and how he came up with the concept: "A lot of the ideas originate from some observations about animals, other comics are just me having a thought and putting it through the perspective of an animal."
A forgetful spider must have a hell of a time remembering where to step
Do you want to start making your own comics also? Jimmy has some advice for you: "Don't let the fear of making bad art keep you from starting. Making bad art is the first step to making something better."
Stop doing it and we will stop picking it up. (whilst out walking of course)
"I've always loved comics and animals, so it's really fulfilling to write 'They Can Talk' and have such a great response from readers. I have a new course coming out about creating comics on Domestika later this month."

Interesting concept for a movie. Maybe something like The Truman Show, but on a much larger level? Perhaps an entire city on an island believing it's still the ancient/medieval era?
2021 is supposed to be a huge year for the emergence of the 17 year cicada. Larger numbers than usual.
I should just give up at this stage and climb up and sit on the kitty castle, maybe then it can be classified as chair and thoroughly scratched instead
Well, you're the one who thinks giving a girl a turd is a great gift.
Johnny! Where are you Johnn?!.....oh holy s**t never mind
It seems to be all over the base of the tree and it smells so great I just have to stay here and inhale the lingering bouquet. Even though they're trying to drag me away from here I shall not yield.
Absolutely brilliant. These will be going through my head every time I see one of these animals. People will wonder why I'm standing there laughing at seemingly nothing.
I love their facial expressions. I didn’t want this list to end!
