I bought my first camera in 2012 when the idea for this project was born and lasted until 2018. The project is called "Alone" and has 10 images.
Alone is about loneliness and the burden of bearing it by yourself. Loneliness seen not as an opportunity to find oneself, but as a monster, as something with exclusively negative connotations. We live in a time when, even if we are connected on all social channels, we are alone, more and more alone. There are people who experience a strong sense of loneliness that comes in and does not disappear regardless of the social situation or how many friends they have. No matter where you are, at sea, at home, in the city, chronic loneliness acts like a prison: you can't get out of it.
A recent study done on more than 3.4 million people, especially from North America, but also from Europe, Asia, and Australia, investigated the role that social isolation, loneliness or living alone has on mortality. Scientists found that these three situations had a significant and similar impact on the risk of premature death.
"Alone" a photo project about the feeling of - I'm alone anyway.

Putting words and photographs to my feelings...<3 Trying to find a simple tattoo to represent the feeling? Ideas?
I can identify with this article unfortunately. I suffer from chronic pain and I am bedridden. Though I have a husband, he works long hours and I am only with him sometimes for as little as 15 minutes when he gets home, which he goes to bed as we sleep in separate bedrooms. It is a prison that feels like solitary confinement sometimes. We moved to a new city just after I became ill, so I was never able to develop any friendships. I can tell you that I still grieve for my old life of working, having lunch with friends and just having human contact on a daily basis. I miss going to the grocery store and running errands, cooking and everything else associated with the outside world. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Please, if you know of someone that you see around you that you sense may be suffering from loneliness, extend a hand and an ear. You could save their life.
And to Daria Virbanescu, thank you for your insight and wisdom to bring this issue to the public. May it move someone to reach out to others. Thank you!
I'm so sorry to hear about all the bad things you are going trough:( people are not meant to be alone, we are social beings that need social contact. I know it's not the same thing as having someone around you, but if you ever feel the need to talk to someone, I'm here.
