An Eating Disorder Took Over My Life

It all started when I was 12. One day, I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror before taking a bath and started pinching my stomach and calling myself fat. Since then, anorexia has taken over my life.

Anorexia is sooooo common now in teens especially girls but boys too. I’m 29 & struggle with the thoughts some days. It never goes away. It’s like alcoholism recovery, you must be vigilant the rest of your life. Except they can just avoid bars & never drink alcohol. Anyone with an eating disorder (anorexia, binge eating, bulimia, over exercising, diabulimia etc) must be around food, eat & feel how “big” their body is 24/7. Diabulimia is not doing insulin to not gain weight if you have type 1 diabetes. This is what I used to do. I would get so sick. When I had diabetes & didn’t get checked for 2 - 3 months I got down to 94lbs @ age 16.
