A missing limb, whether lost through trauma, amputation or congenital disorder, can create untold difficulties for the people suffering from these conditions. But the 15 people in these photos show courage (and an excellent sense of humor) by making the best of their difficult situations.
Hopefully, none of our readers will take this as a sign that they can make fun of amputees – the fact that these amputees can put a funny and positive spin on their situation is great, but don’t assume that it’s an invitation for you to laugh about it as well!

If I were they, I doubt I can have sense of humors like they have. They are strong and great people.
You would be surprised. Whenever life gives you lemons, the best thing to do is make lemonade.
Load More Replies...Am so glad they could find the humor in this. I particularly like the thumb and the big toe.
Great attitudes guys and gal... Plus they are beautiful tattoo-deco pieces of art. Thanks for sharing !
These people are great. I recently lost my leg. People say I'm sick because I joke. I say I joke to feel better. If I sit around crying I'll be sad and my leg is still gone.
Ha! I'm an amputee myself. I'm missing my foot. *missing...* Bwahaha! I enjoy the humor that I can make because of my amputation. I can't count how many times I make a foot pun every day. I'm even considering to dress like a zombie for Halloween, so I can walk up to doors and my foot falls off. :D
Ha! I'm an amputee myself. I'm missing my right foot. *missing...* Bwahaha! ♥ I love this! Thinking about being a zombie for Halloween, so I can start walking to a door and my foot rips off! :D
Being an above knee amputee myself I know hoe these people feel. It's the making fun of it that helps you through.. well done
Most excellent to have taken such traumas, and turned them into tongue in cheek humor...very courageous....
Using humour to deal with adversity is a brilliant coping mechanism.
I can only feel a lot of respect for these people in the way they deal with misfortunes. I hope life treats them respectfully and kindly

Amazing sense of humor and confidence in one self. Why not laugh in the face of adversities!
But pretty amazing. The injuries are disturbing - not what they've done.

Thank you, thank you, thank you ......... you demonstrate what we wish we were.
As "Jimmy" Buffett says "If we weren't all crazy we would go insane" These people will survive what ever took their limbs attitude helps
The transformative power of humor over pain is amazing! I'll get a tree of life-tattoo over double mastectomy and c-section scars
Being a prankster by nature, I would have to do something like that. Glad I'm not the only one!
