We’ve gathered some wholesome, cute and downright inspiring examples of Mothers-In-Law just being awesome. So get comfortable as you scroll through, upvote your favorite examples and be sure to share your own stories and experiences in the comments section below.

It's not easy being Green and sometimes it's not easy being a mother-in-law. But yours? She knocks it out of the park
The idea of a “horrible” or “nightmare” mother-in-law is such a common trope that most would find it pretty lazy if it showed up in a novel or film. Indeed, it’s such a narrative crutch that it’s been overused to death, but, unfortunately, it’s also created the often hurtful stereotype that one’s partner’s parents are out to get you.
There is no denying that some folks do have horrible parents, but the real issue in these sorts of cases is that they are only horrible to their kid’s partner. After all, most folks are treated relatively well by their mom and dad, but this doesn’t mean their partners are treated the same way. However, there are so many families interested in actually being nice and spending quality time with their kid’s partners.

After all, it’s not hard to realize that, at the end of the day, every family is weird in its own way, for better or worse. So when you meet them, you are being invited into a very established world, with its own jokes, references and often a very deep history. The best families do what they can to make folks feel included.

So for every “terrible in-law” story, there are wholesome examples of people who found new friends among their partner’s family. It’s a reminder that, at the end of the day, most people are actually quite decent and perfectly capable of being nice. Don’t let the decades of horrible stereotypes fool you.

Vacationing With My Boyfriend's Family Tomorrow, His Mom Fills A Hole In My Heart ❤️ (Mine Passed When I Was 18, So Blessed With A Mil Like Her)
My boyfriends parents both, but especially his mom, they treat me like I'm their own. This will be my 3rd vacation with them, we always meet at their house and drive south together. I adore his whole family, I love that they love me too, and his mom is my best friend. Whenever we go to their house for dinner, I can hardly get in the door before she squeals, "my wine drinking buddy is here!" & pours me a glass. 🤣🥰 I lost my mom to cancer when I was 18, and I was very close with her. Nobody will ever replace her, but having such a loving MIL who makes sure to always include me and tell me she loves me, it certainly does some healing things for the soul. ❤️
I hope that's your boyfriend becomes your husband and that you have many years together!

This can be good, or bad. If MIL sticks to your design and plans, then OK, one less thing you have to do. BUT if she goes way TF off base and does everything her way which is the diametric opposite of your way, then it is bad bad bad, and now you have to go through the effort to undo her s**t and redo the nursery to your specs.

My MIL bought me a dress when I was recently post partum because she said new moms need a chance to feel pretty (she was right). She also came and helped clean my house.
As it happens, my MIL helped me paperhanging today. I was really nervous because I‘m not good at anything arts & crafts related, and my own mother always got mad at me when we were paperhangig when I was a child because I couldn’t do it correctly. My MIL explained everything calmly and when I had a small corner where I had cut away too much wallpaper, she didn’t even bat an eye. Just said I can use a little white paint to cover it if it bothers me. It was so comforting to have someone who didn’t get mad when you make a mistake. I know this doesn’t compare to the stories in this thread, but for me that mattered a lot.
I won the lottery with my in-laws they were such amazing loving people and I miss them every day. They raised a man I am forever proud to call my husband and they were the best of grandparents to our two children, we were truly blessed.
I don't know that my mother-in-law would have done any of these things, but I think we would have loved each other, and I know my kids would have had a wonderful grandmother. (My mother-in-law passed shortly before I met my wife.)
Shame on you for making it pay per view in the middle of an entry. I tried the bored panda app and the ads were so overwhelming and annoying and constant that I had to uninstall it. Now you're making this site unusable as well. Goodbye.
It is so nice to see there are great MIL's out there. My MIL passed away in the early stages of my husband and I's relationship. I did get to spend her last christmas with her we had fun sneaking cookies and eating them for breakfast on christmas morning. I am sure we would have had an amazing relationship I wish I could have gotten to know her better .
My late wife's mother crossed over years before we met, so I've never had a mother in law. I'm told she would not have liked me, being from a different faith. Never got to find out, but my father in law was an absolute gem! Miss you, Pat.
Pookie the poll question does not include not having a mother in law 😭
We always called our parents every evening. One Sunday evening my MIL didn't answer, we assumed she went to the Christmas concert at her church. When she didn't answer after 9:00 I went over to check on her. Her light weren't on and my 1st comment going in "was damnit Phobie you need to call us. I turned around and saw her on the floor in the bathroom, we think she was getting ready for church. It was so sudden she had her hands up fixing her hair. It was December 23rd.
The vast majority of in-laws are great, which is why those nasty ones are so shocking. All of my friends have (or had) great in-laws. I mean, like every family member, they can be exasperating and annoying, but that is usually because you care about them. We both get along with our in-laws, because my parents always side with my wife, and my in-laws always side with me.
My Ex Mother In Law was the absolutely Best around. Even after the divorce her and my father in law we still talked. The best thing about my mother in law beside how wonderful she was, was her Laugh she had the greatest laugh
I only got to meet my future MIL briefly before she passed away before me and her son got married. I'd like to think that had she been alive when we married and to present she would like me and we'd have some laughs. I'm hoping she's looking at us from heaven and smiling.
I had a MIL who could be difficult, but was wonderful to me. I still miss her. <3
My mother in law is great! She never taught her son to shut an internal door but I'll forgive her for the memes!
As a young, single woman, it never occurred to me that I wouldn't be close to my MIL. Even when we were first married, she mostly hid her abusive, manipulative side. We are almost NC now, husband very LC. All of you who feel seen and loved by your MIL...give her a big hug from me too!
