A seventeen year old budding artist Caffrey Fielding from New Hampshire has created an amazing light sculpture from discarded electronics.
After carefully taking apart an old laptop, the teenager carefully positioned the parts to create shadows which form the image of a skull.
The light sculpture uses an old Kodak Super8 movie projector as a light source to focus a beam of light through the electronic junk to create the final image of a human skull.
The eye of the skull is cleverly fashioned from the camera of the old Chromebook and the rest of the skull features are created using layers of metal and plastic harvested from the laptop and hot glued into position. By varying the distance of the junk to the light source, subtle shading was created giving the final “light painting” depth.
Caffrey Fielding attended RISD pre-college, an intensive six week program arts program in Providence, Rhode Island over the summer and hopes to attend RISD after he graduates from High School next year.
