Photo-realism painters make every effort to imitate the photos they use as the basis for the painting. On the contrary, Hyper-realism painters only use photographs as mere references to create works that are also very realistic but involve their subjectivity. The subjectivity of the artists appears on the use of emotional, social, political, and cultural themes in the work they create. If the painter Photo-realism produces realistic works as they are, artists of Hyper-realism give birth to a new reality (simulated reality) that is not exactly the same as the photo used as a reference. Sometimes the work of Hyper-realism is very provocative. Therefore, it is not surprising that some say that the work of hyper-realism is “a work that is very realistic but not realistic.”
