Alternative Wedding Dress Designer Who Loves Colour Has Fun In Lockdown With A Rainbow Of Family Portraits.
With wedding dress work slowing right down during lockdown I decided to cheer myself and my family up with daily colour portraits.
I sent my kids on a mission round the house each day to find all the coloured objects they could. We raided our clothing for appropriate ‘costume’ – sometimes we had to be a bit inventive. As a dressmaker I challenged myself to make sure I was wearing something I had made myself each day. This wasn’t always easy as though I love colour it appears I never buy anything turquoise for myself!
A couple of years ago we needed to repaint the fence in our garden. I asked the kids “What colour do you think we should have?”, they said “Rainbow!” So a rainbow it became, and this made the perfect backdrop for our rainbow portrait series!
I’m not a professional photographer but I definitely learnt a few things during the week I worked on these pictures. Pushing my skill set outwards, even just a little bit, was fun and satisfying. And now we have these colourful portraits to look back on for years to come!
The reaction I got as I shared these pictures each day on my social media was uplifting! People became excited to see which colour was coming next. They loved watching the fun we were having. I hope these images spread a little rainbow joy to many more people!
