Shopper Is Praised For Seeking Revenge On Woman With Full Cart Who Wouldn’t Let Her Skip Line
Revenge is best served cold, but instant gratification can also sometimes do the trick, as exemplified by a woman who pulled a prank in a grocery store in response to a slow customer. Because really, who has the patience to wait for someone to unload their massive monthly food supplies when you’ve got only one item to scan? Certainly not this woman.
- Mandy Watson's viral video showed her hiding toilet paper as revenge for not being let ahead in line.
- The video, detailing her prank at an Aldi store in the UK, amassed 2.1 million views.
- Mandy intended to purchase only milk and had to wait in line behind a shopper with "hundreds" of items.
Mandy Watson, from Scotland, UK, took to her TikTok page on March 22 to expose the elaborate way she found to get payback for being forced to stay behind a customer who, according to Mandy, had hundreds of items in line at an Aldi’s cashier counter.
In a video, which has since gone viral, amassing 2.1 million views, Mandy revealed that she only wished to buy a single item of milk and, therefore, asked if she could go in front of the big purchaser in a bid to avoid having to wait longer than necessary at the checkout.

Unfortunately for Mandy, the Aldi customer refused, triggering a rather mischievous side from the TikToker, who subsequently hid a universally known necessity.
In her video, Mandy filmed the checkout line facing the back of the customer, adding a text that read: “The lovely lady with 100 items in Aldi who wouldn’t let me go in front with only milk… hope you don’t have diarrhea when u get home I hid your bog roll under the counter.”
The video then cut to a clip of the important item in question, hidden somewhere under the cash register.

For those who are unfamiliar with the term “bog roll,” it is a colloquial term, primarily used in British English, for toilet paper.
Mandy’s cheeky reprisal prompted viewers to be quite amused, as a TikTok user commented: “You should never put ideas in my head I’m bad enough as it is and this kind of trickery doesn’t help my situation,” to which Mandy replied: “Lol I’m the same doesn’t take much like ha ha.”
Another person wrote: “I would have added condoms and incontinence pads to her shopping,” which Mandy approved of, revealing: “I’ve done this in Tesco put condoms in my cousins shopping then videoed his face when he tried saying they weren’t his.”
Mandy, who is Scottish, joked that she hoped “the lovely lady” in front of her wouldn’t get diarrhea

The lines of shopping etiquette can sometimes be blurred. The specific issue of letting someone skip the line if they have fewer items has often been debated online, as shown in a thread on Quora.
A popular response to the Quora question asking, “Is it common courtesy to let someone skip in the grocery line if they have fewer items?” saw a man affirming that it was indeed courtesy, but that it shouldn’t be common practice.
The Quora user wrote: “If I’ve got two carts full of groceries and have been in line for thirty minutes because this F*****G KROGER CAN’T OPEN MORE THAN TWO LANES AT ONCE EVEN THOUGH IT’S FOUR F*****G— Sorry…where was I?”

“Right, look, if I’m in a rush and have been waiting a while, it’s completely acceptable for me to keep my place in line.
“It’s also completely acceptable if I choose to let the person behind me with half a basket go ahead of me.
“This isn’t like other ‘common’ courtesies.”

“Holding a door open for someone, letting someone ahead of you in a merge lane, letting someone know that they dropped something, those are, and should be, daily occurrences that we all reflexively do.
“Letting someone with fewer groceries slip in front of us in line should not be demanded or expected.
“It should be a nice treat when the person in front has the time to spare.”
Mandy’s prank prompted various reactions on social media

Watching people cheer this entitled idiot on, really scares me how they younger gen deal with petty problems.
Load More Replies...I let people cut in line. people let me cut in. It's kind, but cutting in line when you have fewer or next to none items is not a right you've got when entering a store. You can ask, you can offer, but that's it. I see no reason for petty revenge when you got denied. Just swallow it down and accept your place in the line (or return the stuff and leave if you can't wait)
That's where the OP is a completely entitled jerk. It is a favor to let someone cut ahead, not a requirement. But the OP is the main character and heaven forbid they have to wait in line like the rest of us.
Load More Replies...What, no poll? Imagine a shopper feeling so entitled to your place in line that they hide your items, it must be similar to the two thousand unswapped airline seats on these pages.
Why would she do that, the lady herself was waiting in line too, should she let everybody with less stuff in her cart go before her? Entitled much, no?
I'm an American who shops at Aldi and generally we have like 10 cashierless lanes and a couple "manned" ones. I feel this person could have easily gone to another lane instead of pranking the person buying their months supply of groceries. They are not entitled to cut and should really be ashamed of this.
Disgusted by the entitlement and actions of this selfish bint. She got to the cash register behind someone with a lot of shopping, tough! The fact she only had one item is completely irrelevant. The ONLY time it’s acceptable to cut the queue, is if the customer in front of you invites you to do so. I’ve turned down such invites in the past because there were others behind me with similarly limited items and it didn’t seem fair. In hindsight, I should probably have considered that the front customer might feel anxiety having a bunch of people at their back and wanted to let us all through to take some pressure off.
Nah. That was a jerk move. Letting people with less items ahead is a thoughtful courtesy, not a social expectation.
And the Aldi people are laughing their heads off. The culprits of the situation is Aldi that has not opened enough cashiers or better yet has not opened a specific cash register for small purchases ( Well, we already know that there is always someone who considers that a cart or a basket full to the top are small purchases), even if there are people who are in such a hurry leave a self-checking area. And instead of protesting that Aldi has not done that, we dedicate ourselves to f**k the fellow who suffers the same queue as you but with a full cart.
Exactly. If you want to know what happens when cultural etiquette turns into expectation, look at the madness of American "tipping" culture. It becomes a way for companies to shift their problems onto the consumer.
Load More Replies...I do this all the time, but if someone demanded I do it then no. I do it to be polite, but you’re not entitled to anything
Um, f**k that lady. I let people ahead of me, but they are not entitled to it. She sounds like an a*s.
I hate people who won't let my cut the line, when I only have one item, but this does NOT give me any right to seek "revenge" against them. What a tool.
You "hate" those people? Life must be a bit angry and rough for you, man.
Load More Replies...She should have just used the self serve. Instead she had to become a victim and spread it on the net. YATA
The entitlement is insane. I can understand being upset and complaining about it but nobody owes you to skip ahead in line. I typically would let someone but obviously she didn't deserve to in the first place
I am a state caregiver so when I am in line it is often for someone else on their limited time clock that they NEED to be independent. No, you absolutely may not have a second of their time! It would be immoral and selfish to not take into account that it is not actually MY time. She is awful. And the people cheering her on are what is wrong with society. Aldi is a GROCERY store. Go to a convenience store if that is your priority. (On my time I would let her go.)
This is just unnecessary. Petty as hell and then they blast them on TikTok and people actually agree with them!
Taking "revenge" when someone doesn't grant you a favor? Nope, not cool. Not to mention, if you hid the toilet paper after she paid, you literally stole from her. And, you don't know the situation. Maybe the 100 item woman had already let ten people go in front of her. Maybe she is also on a schedule and needs to get out as fast as she can. Buying one milk doesn't entitle you to someone else giving up their place in line.
I would typically let a person go in front of me, but sometimes you don't know the circumstances. And what if there were five people in line behind her that each had one item, where do you draw the line? Like in traffic, you can flip me off if I don't let you in, but bottom line is I don't have to. I owe nobody anything in that circumstance.
If this was the "Am I The A-hole" thread, the OP would be the AH. Probably so entitled they think that if I was in front of her at the gas station waiting to put gas in my full size work truck and she was behind me in her Pious, I mean Prius, I should let her cut ahead of me because her gas tank is smaller.
We do groceries once every 3-4 weeks. How many people will I let cut me in line? How many is enough? Sometimes, when we see someone with plenty of items in their arms walking around to see which line is the fastest, we let them pass and they are usually surprised because it's not the norm. It's not something that is done here.
It worries me that boredpanda as a site seems to favor the one with milk. While the commenters see the bigger picture. It depends. She could've let her go first. She didn't. Sucks. But to remove a shopping item? wtf. Aldi could've helped by opening a register but that doesnt help when she's already in line.
I don't understand the lady with the "100" items. I ALWAYS let the person behind me go ahead if they only have a few items and I have a lot. It just seems like an obvious consideration, at least to me, but I also never expect it.
