Akari Endo Stands-Out As Sexy But Funny Vampire In New Horror-Comedy Film
A new romantic relationship can sometimes be hard to navigate. But, what if one of you is a zombie and other is a vampire? Now, toss in the idea that neither of you believes you’re anything but human and your family isn’t convinced you’re not.
This is the premised behind the new festival award-winning independent horror-comedy feature film “An Accidental Zombie (Named Ted).” The film stars Cameron McKendry as Ted and Akari Endo as Livia, two oddly-suited sweethearts caught in a potentially dangerous romance.
Written and directed by Anne Welles, the synopsis is summarized as: Ted knows he’s not a zombie. He just picked up a “skin thing” on his vacation in the Caribbean. But his bizarrely kooky family is not convinced, especially when they meet his new girlfriend, the beautiful vampire Livia, from his group therapy. As Ted struggles not to eat Livia’s brains and she struggles not to suck all his blood, these two unusually matched young sweethearts try to survive their love without killing each other.
The true standout in the film is the half-Dominican / half-Japanese beauty Akari Endo, delivering just the right amount of sexual tension and biting laughs. She was backed up by a hilarious cast of characters, played by Naomi Grossman, Gary Anthony Williams, and Kane Hodder.
When asked about starring in the film, Akari commented “Working with talented, experienced actors like Naomi Grossman and Gary Anthony Williams was a wonderful experience. I learned so much from them during our family scenes as well as behind the scenes. I would watch the monitors during my breaks and loved to see them in action… how they would come up with great ideas and how they interacted with Anne (our director) and other fellow actors was very inspiring. The energy on set was one of collaboration, respect and a lot of fun!”
Akari also proved a true talent appearing along with Jessica Morris, Eric Roberts, Vivica A. Fox and Dee Wallace in the Lifetime TV movie, “The Wrong Teacher”; and in the fan-favorite TV films, Sharktopus vs Whalewolf and Sharktopus vs Pteracuda. Before moving to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic, Akari appeared in numerous high-profile film and stage projects, earning several nominations for the La Silla and Soberano Awards.
