I 13 (f) recently got interested in digital art since the pandemic started and I couldn't go out to do other stuff that I was interested in because my mom wanted me to be safe I struggled alot when I started because I wasn't using procreate I was using another app called AutoDesk Sketchbook sit made drawing very hard for me since I didn't have a huge variety of brushes but I made them work fast forward to this year we had a small family reunion and one of my uncle's was really fascinated with my drawings and showed my cousin my mom was really shocked about my ability to draw and she acted all surprised and proud of my ability to draw so well anyways I was sitting with my aunt and she was asking me if it was easy to drawing using the app I was using to draw and I told her no and she asked which app would make it easier and better and I told her procreate but unfortunately since I don't have an Ipad it wouldn't be possible for me to get it and she said she would get it but it would be on my mom's terms.

The dinner was finished and everyone went back to their respective hotels and homes that they were staying at my mom immediately called me in her room when everyone left and she told was going to buy me an Ipad but she's doing it on her terms and she was very happy about it she said how could you be so good at digital art and you can't even recreate one little character one she saw me doing but because of the brush thing wasn't possible so she said I wasn't going to make her sister waste her money on a child that was just trying to impress people and she also said I needed to draw something for her in order for her to believe me and she said she was do this for my own good what if some one asks me to draw something on the spot and I won't be able to do it. Can I get you guys advice here please?

You’re NTA. You’re 13 years old. You shouldn’t have to “prove” that you can draw anything amazingly on the spot. Literally no one is going to expect that of you. Your mom should see that it’s just simply a passion of yours that you’d like to pursue further so you can improve, not that you’re just trying to impress people with it. She seems to have her own insecurity issues that she’s projecting onto you. While you also shouldn’t expect to just get an iPad out of the blue just because you want one, she should see how much this means to you and make it a birthday present. You do not have to prove your worth to anyone, including your mother.

You are NTA but i do have a question. Are you drawing on a laptop? If so there is cheaper options than an ipad. I draw on a laptop using a wacom intuos pro ($400 AUS). It connects to your screen via Bluetooth and acts like a touchscreen. You draw on it and it shows up on the laptop screen (think like a giant touchpad.). My drawing software is free and the pad came with a stylus. Of course you don't have to do this, but seeing as your mother seems to be concerned about the money it might be worth exploring some other options
