The Opposite Of Design Fails: 50 Of The Most Brilliant Design Ideas That People Have Ever Shared In This Online Group (New Pics)
Over the years, we at Bored Panda have released quite a few pieces on subpar design. And while these publications are incredibly fun to prepare and scroll through (just take a look at this one), we need to balance them out a little. After all, not every designer is an incompetent 3-year-old. Some of them are 4... light-years ahead of the competition.
There's a subreddit that features high-quality images of interesting designs, including architectural, graphic, industrial, furniture, and product design, and even though we already covered it once, there are so many gems on it, we need to do a follow-up. From a restaurant half-sunken into the sea to a suitcase that can measure its own weight, continue scrolling and check out the best that human ingenuity has to offer.

We, regular users, usually see just the finished product. But there's so much more that goes into actually creating them. To learn more about design, we contacted Nicole Phillips, who has been working in the design industry since 2005 and has a background in fine arts and advertising. Phillips specializes in logo design, branding, and package design for food & beverage, beauty, health, and interior design clients, and for each project, her work is unique and never linear.
"The design process requires research, experimentation, and even a bit of psychology," Phillips told Bored Panda. "When I feel frustrated with the process, I remind myself to take a step back, have fun and play. It's those moments of play and experimentation that usually create the best results, but it's those hours of research that help build the foundation for the final result."
"My clients are not paying me for my time, they are paying me for my many years of experience, so if I am able to complete the design process in 5 hours rather than 5 weeks, this is a sign of my years of experience and knowledge, this is valuable," she added.

Trying to determine whether or not a particular design is good, many turn to Dieter Rams and his '10 commandments.' According to Rams, good design is innovative, makes a product useful, is aesthetic, makes a product understandable, is unobtrusive, is honest, is long-lasting, is thorough down to the last detail, is environmentally friendly, and involves as little design as possible.
Nicole Phillips agrees with the German design legend.
"Good design includes a good balance of function, form, and fun," Phillips said. "The user shouldn't have to try too hard to get what they need from the design. Good design isn't just aesthetics, it should communicate well and push boundaries a bit. Good design solves problems."

Bed Sheet Tells You Which Side You Are Holding So That You Can Orientate It When Putting It On The Bed
Especially useful for a queen-sized bed, which dimensions are almost, but not exactly equal.
Load More Replies...I marked all my sheets with a small mark in the centres of top and bottom. Unnoticed except when I'm making my bed. I did the inside of my duvet cover too so I could properly position it on the quilt after washing it. Saves time trying to figure out how to make my bed!
They all do. Tag is on bottom right corner while looking at the front of the bed.
I never understand why bedsheets do not have their size on and which is the bottom/ top..
If sheets weren't made square to fit a rectangular mattress it would be nice. It so frustrating I look for vintage sheets in thrift stores now.
It's where I buy my linen - towels, sheets, pillowcases, and duvet cover. Sure, a lot of junk is sold but there's also really good barely used 100% cotton linens with sizes marked on them. When I go to a thrift store, I usually check them out and if there's a really good piece or set, I'll buy them.
Load More Replies...Ugh. I don't know how many times I've put my stupid sheets on sideways and had to redo them. Dangit lol
My wife used to put the sheets on UPSIDE DOWN, as in the part that you sleep next to vs. the part against the mattress and the part against the blankets. (In the case of printed sheets, this was rather odd, to say the least.) I haven't let her change the sheets in 17 years. Rather do it myself.
Load More Replies...Helpful! Don't know how many times I have had to readjust my California King sheets to the right configuration.
I am seeing this in linens more often now. Thanks whomever decided on this.
the corner with the tag is supposed to be placed on the bottom right
Although they are not clear what direction you are looking. I.e. looking from top of the bed or foot of the bed. Not sure if that makes sense.
Load More Replies...The "Orient" is usually described as the area near China. The use of "orientate" makes sure that people see this as a directional change rather than a region of Asia. It's apparently hotly debated which word is "correct" in this usage, whereas both actually are.
Load More Replies...FYI: the tag on a fitted sheet is always on the bottom left hand side.
I have fitted sheets that have elastic straps added at the corners. They make the sheets fit better. Two are one color, two a different color. You don't have to spend time looking for the little tag just gab to matching straps and put them at the top.
Still waiting for someone to realize that the word Center is misspelled..
Working in hospitality for over 45yrs I’ve gotta tell y’all that because of this 1 little tag, hours of wasted time (& frustration) have been done away with making all involved much happier (& it’s about as mind boggling as those little whatchamacallits keeping shoelaces from unraveling!) simplistic genius!
That would be ORIENT it, not orientate! I do hope somebody has already said this.
Brilliant! Now it just also needs a woven/embroidered size tag, so it can't fade w/laundering.
If they just standardized the placement of the tags you would not need another tag.
I finally took a black marker and wrote this on the bottom of my sheets! No one sees it but me.
on fitted sheets, there is a tag inside ONE of the corners, which always goes to the bottom right side ... HS home ec class ...
In America, you have probably never noticed this, but the label of the bed sheet is ALWAYS sewn into the seam located at the bottom right of the sheet. So, when making the bed, find the label and hold that corner in your right hand - your sheets will always be correct on the bed. Don't believe me ... Check it out for yourself!
I label mine CB with a sharpie, plus dots in the corners of fitted sheets for sizes. Works for me!
I do that with a sharpie marker when I buy sheets. Just write 'top/bottom' on the narrow side so I don't put it on sideways. Saves much stress. I do the same on doonas so that when they're being put into the covers I'm not trying to put the long edge of the doona into the short side of the cover.
I have put a "X" on ours for the same reason. Used a Sharpie marker pen.
Orientate? Love the tags, hate the made-up word. Orient is all you need.
Someone said the tagged corner always should be on the right as you make the bed. It does put the corners in the right place. Of course, finding the tag takes seemingly forever
So its a law to have a "do not remove" tag on bedding like mattresses. Lets pass a law to make this legally required!
I cod make my bed on less than a minute if my sheets had those tags.
FYI there’s a tag on the bottom right corner of every fitted sheet ever made! Use the tag to orient the sheet (even if you do the top first)
"Orientate" is not a word. You "orient" something the way it should go.
PLEASE make this a "thing"! Sadly my attempt's to discreetly use a permanent marker to draw an arrow has not always been met with success!
My set I recently bought from a very large club warehouse had these labels on them!
Saves me from labeling them all myself which I have been doing for years now.
My bedsheets have this! They mark which side goes where. It's extremely helpful.
I have a similar set and it has helped improve my vocabulary. I have a similar set and it has helped improve my vocabulary. :-)
I have a dot at the top right hand side on each sheet and my counter pane.
Aww I have elderly clients that sew a bit of coloured thread in the very middle for bed making
The verb is to ORIENT. You orient yourself. Orientate is not a word. Orienteering is a good sport.
Yes, in the mean time I'll keep marking my sheets wit a waterproof marker. Takes a moment or too, once a year or so.
Brooklin sheets have "short side" "long side" labels on them helps me
Why two tags? Should be integrated and attached to every set of bed sheets,
"Orientate" is a word now? Does it mean the same as to orient something?
My sheets have this! Crate and Barrel sheets from Kohl's. They're cheap.
I have always marked mine with permanent markers. Easy, and none ever see anyway
General sheet rule, the mfg tag will go on the left bottom in the US.
All my bottom sheets have been marked with permanent marker, otherwise I'd go crazy trying to make a king size bed.
That doesn't always help because I have fitted sheets with labels on sides, for some reason! 😀

Theres a faucet at the Cheyenne mountain zoo hippo and penguin exhibit restrooms that are three in one, it's a horizontal faucet, one part dispenses water, the middle part dispenses soap, and the other is air dry
I saw quite a few 2 in 1 recently in the airport, shaped a bit like airplane: middle part provides water, and the side parts work as air dry. There is no rounded plane shapes, simply the style (middle tube, and two tubes to the side from the middle of water one)

Why is the political bias against Trump necessary? He made mistakes yes, but he is all and all a good man and a great president. Besides I see no reason to put politics into this usually amazing website.
I'm getting pretty tired of trolls posting their anti-Trump and anti-conservative crap. I never see anything pro-Trump or pro-conservative...is that by design, or do you simply have a large number of leftists who read your posts? Either be fair and let both sides post, or don't post anything from angry leftists. We're ALL allowed to have our own opinions, but it's infuriating to only see stupid posts and/or comments from leftists.
Really cool ideas If your reading this I hope you have a great day and know. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV
Why did jesus supposedly heal some lepers in the stories, but he didn't cure the disease leprosy itself? Some people still suffer with leprosy to this day. Was he incompetent? Evil? Just wants certain people to suffer? Science has largely cured the disease leprosy. Thank scientists! Can you name a disease god has cured? Science has actually cured a number of diseases. Do you have any evidence that any gods even exist? How is jesus god's only son? Aren't we all supposedly created in god's image? Didn't god create Adam and Eve? The bible says pray for anything you want in god's name & god will give it to you. Can you please pray to regrow the limbs of an amputee? Petitionary prayer fails. What makes you think heaven is real then?
