The Opposite Of Design Fails: 50 Of The Most Brilliant Design Ideas That People Have Ever Shared In This Online Group (New Pics)
Over the years, we at Bored Panda have released quite a few pieces on subpar design. And while these publications are incredibly fun to prepare and scroll through (just take a look at this one), we need to balance them out a little. After all, not every designer is an incompetent 3-year-old. Some of them are 4... light-years ahead of the competition.
There's a subreddit that features high-quality images of interesting designs, including architectural, graphic, industrial, furniture, and product design, and even though we already covered it once, there are so many gems on it, we need to do a follow-up. From a restaurant half-sunken into the sea to a suitcase that can measure its own weight, continue scrolling and check out the best that human ingenuity has to offer.

That's interesting. At first glance it reminds one of those things where people put their heads in to look like an astronaut or something similar. Then you realize both that anybody could experience the loss of war, and the hole it leaves in these families.

It’s not a design, it’s not a cleverly done shelf. it is a statue, It is a work of art, a monument to many victims of suffering and death, let’s not put it on the same page with card tricks. And yes it's amazing, and really emotional mainly these days....

It's weird... They started the war (as part of Austro-Hugarian empire) and erect a monument like this, "our poor soldiers were sent to invade and didn't return"... Hypocrites?

I am from Hungary and I did not know about this memorial. Thank you for showing. Lost my grandfather in WW2, at the "ripe" age of 24. He left my 2-year old father, his 4-year-old other son, his mother and his 23 years old wife (my grandma) behind. Grandma has not been remarried, she raised her two kids alone, took care of her ill mother-in-law, worked as a war nurse, a beekeeper, cook, sewing lady and about 3 other professions to provide support for her family. Her sons became a pharmacist and a psychologist. She was a tough girl, a fantastic woman, an idol.

These Playing Cards
We, regular users, usually see just the finished product. But there's so much more that goes into actually creating them. To learn more about design, we contacted Nicole Phillips, who has been working in the design industry since 2005 and has a background in fine arts and advertising. Phillips specializes in logo design, branding, and package design for food & beverage, beauty, health, and interior design clients, and for each project, her work is unique and never linear.
"The design process requires research, experimentation, and even a bit of psychology," Phillips told Bored Panda. "When I feel frustrated with the process, I remind myself to take a step back, have fun and play. It's those moments of play and experimentation that usually create the best results, but it's those hours of research that help build the foundation for the final result."
"My clients are not paying me for my time, they are paying me for my many years of experience, so if I am able to complete the design process in 5 hours rather than 5 weeks, this is a sign of my years of experience and knowledge, this is valuable," she added.

Trying to determine whether or not a particular design is good, many turn to Dieter Rams and his '10 commandments.' According to Rams, good design is innovative, makes a product useful, is aesthetic, makes a product understandable, is unobtrusive, is honest, is long-lasting, is thorough down to the last detail, is environmentally friendly, and involves as little design as possible.
Nicole Phillips agrees with the German design legend.
"Good design includes a good balance of function, form, and fun," Phillips said. "The user shouldn't have to try too hard to get what they need from the design. Good design isn't just aesthetics, it should communicate well and push boundaries a bit. Good design solves problems."
To paraphrase Don Draper from Mad Men, it's simple but significant.

This is a great idea - and Kelvinator (I think) did something similar in the 1950s. The problem is that it takes up a HUGE amount of space in the kitchen. The doors need so much space that it's not very practical.

Please add - Japanese toilets. The flushing tank has a water spout with a soap dispenser, so people can wash their hands in the toilet stall- and sudsy water flushed the toilet

Theres a faucet at the Cheyenne mountain zoo hippo and penguin exhibit restrooms that are three in one, it's a horizontal faucet, one part dispenses water, the middle part dispenses soap, and the other is air dry

I saw quite a few 2 in 1 recently in the airport, shaped a bit like airplane: middle part provides water, and the side parts work as air dry. There is no rounded plane shapes, simply the style (middle tube, and two tubes to the side from the middle of water one)

Why did jesus supposedly heal some lepers in the stories, but he didn't cure the disease leprosy itself? Some people still suffer with leprosy to this day. Was he incompetent? Evil? Just wants certain people to suffer? Science has largely cured the disease leprosy. Thank scientists! Can you name a disease god has cured? Science has actually cured a number of diseases. Do you have any evidence that any gods even exist? How is jesus god's only son? Aren't we all supposedly created in god's image? Didn't god create Adam and Eve? The bible says pray for anything you want in god's name & god will give it to you. Can you please pray to regrow the limbs of an amputee? Petitionary prayer fails. What makes you think heaven is real then?
