Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a sugar glider gliding effortlessly through the air. Get ready for your daily dose of cuteness because we gathered a list of the most adorable pictures of sugar gliders.
You might think that these exotic animals are not meant to be kept as pets, but in reality, when looked after correctly, they are happy to live with people. They have roughly the same intelligence as dogs, in that when trained properly they can learn their name and come when they’re called. They tend to grow a strong bond with their human “families” and are happy to spend time with them.
However, sugar gliders are difficult to care for so we encourage you to think twice before jumping on the sugar glider owner train. They're nice to look at but definitely not for everyone.

To new or potential owners: please do not be fooled into thinking that salty crackers are a good snack for gliders! Fresh fruits and vegetables, certain life bugs, and an approved diet like OHPW, BML, and VGV (simple google search) are best for the health and happiness of your fur baby!
Flying squirrels used to come to my black oil sunflower seed feeder every night when I had my farm. When you looked up in the darkness as they approached this is what you saw! Like a bunch of tiny Kleenexes floating in the sky! One of them was not one bit shy! He would come to the feeder when I was standing right next to it! I could have reached out and touched him!

Almost looks like he fell asleep while holding on to the hand. Nontheless, it's cute!
Damn, you should put the whole gif, it's so nice when you see him wrap around the fingers.
Actually quite scary, cute and interesting when you realize how big the eye looks like. But overall it looks great!
Oh my gosh that's so cute. I don't usually gush but i'm literally awww'ing and shoving my phone in my partner's face making him awww too
A sugar glider who pauses its snacking to smile for a photo. Great attitude!
I had one that did that a lot. We had to cover our soda cups xD
There gorgeous and I love them but I'm sure they're not meant to be kept as pets
"Meant" meaning what, I wonder. Were dogs and cats meant to be pets? Humans domesticated wild animals, and how they're very happy commensals, both deriving and giving benefit to the humans with whom they live. These sugar gliders seem very happy, and their humans clearly love them. And they're not being predated or ravaged with parasites like they would be in the wild.
Load More Replies...Very cute although belongs in the Wild were it was born. And way to young to have been taken away from its Mom.
Sugar Gliders are actually perfectly adapted to be pets. They are VERY social, LOVE people, and their lives as pets are so much more comfy. They have difficult and dangerous lives of course. They live much longer as pets. I am usually with you on this issue, 100%. But the are a select few that are on the list of, an even better quality of life as pets!
Load More Replies...These are absolutely adorable creatures. I share the concern of keeping them as pets, though, as their nocturnal liftstyle makes them rather incomptable to living with humans.
To new or prospective owners: yes, sugar gliders are amazing pets. Should they be kept in the wild? It would be ideal, but decades of captive breeding (USA) have deprived these babies of that chance. While we would like to live in the "ideal world," we cannot, so those of us who slave over suggies do our best to provide them with healthy, happy, and enriched lives. If you are new or are interested in owning sugar gliders, please do NOT be fooled by the terrible information that certain mill breeders (I'm looking at you, PP) perpetuate in making sugar glider ownership look easy and attractive. These little guys are A LOT OF WORK. They require SPECIFIC diets, tons of play room (not those god-awful tiny cages), and lots of attention. Yes, they bite; they scratch; they pee and poo all over you. Yes, they will jump for your face, keep you up with barking, and scare you with "crabbing" (Youtube it). They CANNOT be alone - these are highly social creatures, and although you can love them..
... they still need a companion (or two). There is a wealth of GOOD information out there, and many people who are more than happy to help you find the best care for your glider. Just please don't be pulled in by the cuteness alone - understand that these little guys will attach to your heart, and they deserve the love and care that you would show your own kin.

Have been googling a bit about gliders in captivity. Although it's not illegal to keep them as pets (at least in my country), taking proper care of them seems so difficult that I doubt most of these creatures get what they need and deserve. Just cause they look cute doesnť mean they're happy.
Load More Replies...I have four Sugar Glider Females as my emotional support animals. I generally always have the on me. They are wonderful for anxiety relief and they can sleep anywhere. Mine are fully socialized and I keep treats and water on me so they can have some when need be. They are wonderful pets as long as you read up, socialize them, and understand that they are like newborn babies 24/7. And keep them in pairs. Depression, like in humans, is deadly.
One night 20 years ago I was up late and something struck a glancing blow to my window. It was a flying squirrel, as it turned out. Then I saw another, another, another. They did not seem to be afraid of me (albeit I was on the other side of the window) and amazingly cute. They were all just kind of hanging out in the trees outside my apartment. This was in DC by Rock Creek Park. I'll never forget it. I felt like they were giving me the evening to commune with them. I eventually went to sleep that night, and never saw them again.

He is really really cute and I really really really really want him so so so so so bad
They are so cute and so adorable...! Where can I get them? Im from Mexico :(
In Australia you need a special license to keep these as they are wild animals. Takeing them from their natural habitat is NOT legal. Yes they are very cute but...if taken illegally there is often a high death toll. Their eyes are adaptaded to low light conditions. I really hope people are not so cruel as to use flash lights with the photos. And that people understand their dietary needs.
