As hundreds of families crowded the beaches of NJ for July 4th, I saw the opportunity to positively influence the public about our climate crisis. I organized a group of activists to join me as we peacefully stiked for climate action in Plastic Free July!
We gathered at Asbury Park Beachand held signs that stated: “The Planet’s Health Is Your Future” with an additional sign where people came up and wrote in their own personal respones to finish the sentence: “I care because…”
We stood on the beach for over two hours and collected about 30+ responses. The best response was from a young boy who wrote, “If the planet dies, we die”, which shows how aware even children are of our climate crisis.
This strike was meant to positively influence the hundreds of people that gathered on the beach to become more aware and active for protecting our planet.
The other volunteers included: David Shep, Alexandra Yablonsky, and Erica Howarth. Photos by Jacob Feldman.
