My mother’s been drawing her whole life, starting with learning to draw as a small child watching her own mother create all sorts of wonderful images. Mom continued the practice while raising her own children, drawing various cartoons for her own amusement during her free moments.

One day, I noticed she had a whole stack of illustrations about two cute cartoon characters, Dahler & Nicholls, and realized she had enough to fill a book. So I offered to publish it for her. That was the birth of Dahler & Nicholls Fight Crime! (Crime Wins) and Elphinstone Press, a company we now have fun running together.

With all the cartoons she’s built up over the years, soon we’ll have 4 more titles out, inc. another D&N book, two books with one-off comic characters, and an illustrated limericks book. However, for now, here are just a few of the humorous adventures of her two hapless heroes, Dahler & Nicholls, dedicated officers of the law, who, with the aid of their intrepid four-legged assistant Horatio, try their level best to “make the streets safe for decent citizens.”

Sometimes they succeed…
