Say what you want, but it is a fact that '90s kids memes often tap into a deep well of nostalgia, often offering a humorous and heartwarming reminder of much simpler times. These memes frequently feature iconic imagery and references that only those who grew up in the 1990s could really truly appreciate. Images of floppy disks, dial-up internet sounds, the struggles of rewinding VHS tapes, or the colorful, plastic choker necklaces girls would wear often make appearances.

Bored Panda reached out to Alex, the page owner of the page "90s Kids Only" on Instagram, to get an insider scoop on the nostalgic memes that take us back to a beloved era!

When asked, about the meme selection process for the page, Alex shared, "Oh, it’s a fun process! I usually dig through the goldmine of the 90s, picking up stuff that instantly takes you back, you know? I love things that are universally relatable to all 90s kids – like the pain of dial-up Internet or the joy of Saturday morning cartoons. Sometimes followers send in their own nostalgic finds too, and if it gives me a good laugh or hits me right in the feels, it goes up!"

In response to the question about the uniqueness of the 90s nostalgia, Alex explained to Bored Panda, “The 90s were just a magical time, man! We had the best of both worlds – awesome cartoons, epic toys, and we were the last generation to enjoy a childhood without being glued to smartphones. It was a simpler, carefree time, and who wouldn’t feel nostalgic about that?”

Discussing the connection followers have with the content, the page owner mentioned, "People absolutely love a trip down memory lane! I get DMs all the time from followers sharing how a meme made their day or reminded them of a precious childhood moment. It's all about spreading those good vibes and shared experiences that make us smile, you know."

When it comes to keeping the 90s spirit alive for younger generations to enjoy as well, Alex shared with us, "It's a bit tricky but also fun! I try to choose memes that are funny on their own, even if you might not catch the reference right away. And it's super cool to see younger folks getting curious and learning about the 90s culture through the page."

When commenting on the romanticization of the past, the page owner humorously reflected, “Haha, well, not everything in the 90s was perfect – I mean, those dial-up sounds still haunt me! But seriously, I think every era has its highs and lows. Perhaps we do romanticize it a bit, but that’s the fun of nostalgia, right? And hey, I think the 90s snack game was seriously underrated – bring back all those discontinued treats!”

Pfff snakes. Our biology teacher was a falconer, he regularly brought hawks, weasels and a gaggle of hunting dogs to work. When our class trip had to be cancelled because of terrible weather, he just said "no problem, meet me in the biology room" and then he brought this gigantic hawk that he let fly in the room. "Don't worry he's very old, he just wants pets." We spent our rainy "class trip" watching comedy movies while an old hawk flew from desk to desk.

I was the Mom from the nature center, who brought in snakes (small 5' ball pythons), ferrets and turtles One time, and the next time it was rats, and bunnies. ( the rats were not snake food - they were pets, but that was why they were not brought on the same day - scent can make an animal aggressive)

I was supposed to take Latin in 9th grade but the teacher quit right before the school year started. They brought in a sub who had just finished college but he had taken a year of Latin. He wound up only teaching us half a year of Latin before he got completely lost and somehow turned the class into "The Journey of an Epic Hero", which was basically Star Wars 101. He showed us the movies in class and we had multiple discussions of what makes a hero in storytelling To the day, the only thing I remember from Latin is puer in villa est

That man is Ram Chandra. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ram_Chandra_(snake_showman) I've read his biography. Many good stories about him, for instance he had the good luck to be bitten by the world's most venomous snake while giving a demonstration to a group of paramedics. He played a role in the development of antivenins that have now saved the lives of many snake bite victims. Or it could be someone else.

I got a British happy meal a few months ago and it came with a board game inside that myself and my friend (both very much adults) turned into a drinking game on holiday. Even had others around us asking where we got it from! UK happy meal toys really seem to have gone up in value in recent years, plus they're all fully recyclable once you're done playing with them. I found one from when I was a child in the 90's and it's just a lump of plastic with 2 tiny wheels on the bottom. Think it's more the nostalgia of the time, then the actual toy for this meme.

Trying to play in the car on a long car trip, at night- straining to get enough light from each passing lamp post. Then hitting a part of the motorway that didn't have lamp posts and losing. Obviously you couldn't have the light on inside the car, as we all know that was illegal! The struggle was real!

Where do I have to go to get pizza with stretchy cheese like I was a kid? Seriously, something happened to cheese about 20 years ago and it doesn't stretch out like it used to.

I made chili for a friend yesterday. It was over $50 to get the beans and beef. Thank god I already had everything else.

Gosh I don't, I'm deaf now and I can still hear the awful noise these made when they were moved. Not to add, how awful they are for the environment. Luckily they're now banned from being used as a takeaway option in the UK

Consider yourself lucky. Back in the 80's, we had Jean Nate. And, if you liked skin care, we had 10-o-Six and Sea Breeze. Burned like HELL but, that meant it was working.

That was usually paid for by their own wages, when they're already chronically underpaid. Teaching is the only profession where you steal from your own home to bring it into work. Even in schools (in the UK) I worked at where we actually got a budget to do treats like this once a year I probably still spent about £30-35 a month on my students out of my own pocket. Plus in the UK we get money to buy stuff we actually need for our classroom, which is much more than teachers in the USA seem to get! I'm glad students didn't know we did this. We didn't do it for that reason, we do it because of why you do the job- for the love of it. Also because we know many of the students won't get that at home and it put everyone at that moment on an even playing field.

I’m a kid of a single dad with a brother. They played with me but didn’t wear the jewelry. Considering the times, I’m thankful they even played 🥰
